Two cores disabled and engineering sample with some insane liquid nitrogen setup.

Now I'm even more excited to get my 4690k. I don't have any LN2 lying around, but I hope to get some decent overclock out of it. :)

 

Even with 2 Cores disabled, 7GHz is crazy.

So it has less CPU power than a regular, non-overclocked, 4-core @ stock speed 4790K, while consuming vastly more power?

Didn't one of the AMD FX CPU's hit 8Ghz the same way? Not impressive. Let's see what it can do on air or AIO watercooling. So far reviewers are struggling to get them over 4,8Ghz. Devil Canyon is nice, as you get much higher base and boost clockspeed at lower temp (due to new TIM), at the same price as 4770K. But a great OC'er it does not seem to be.

Exactly. None of this really matters though as long as you need liquid nitrogen or similar. What we as end users can easily do on our own rigs, here and now, stable and consistant; THAT is interesting.
