So you agree with me

No, I'm actually saying exactly the opposite and that I find looks of the phantom cases obnoxious. I much prefer the looks of the Obsidian line over the Phantom line. Minimalist cases are much better in my eyes since they're not the thing you're looking at all the time (monitors are), so a minimalist case suits me better than something that looks unnecessarily flashy.

H440 with:

A little bit better airflow,

Removable HDD cages,

PWM controlled fan splitter instead of the existing one that runs the fans at 100%.

Now that would be the best case in the world for me.

Obsidian series has the flimsiest build quality in the over $100 range, corsair cheaps out too much on the case, and charges too much for their cases.

Oh I know, it's just not bad enough for it to really matter for me. The reason I like them is just that, they are one of the few case designs that just worked for me. Call me silly and wasteful, I can't help it. :D

I dont see anything wrong buying their cases. Theyre cases are flimsy but they look nice. People just sou d stupid when they talk about corsairs high build quality.

Personally? The Thermaltake Chaser MK-1.

I really like it. And i've had no problems with it since i built my pc.

I might upgrade to a Chaser A31.

Would still take my CM HAF XM over any other case available for 140mm fan placement.

Don't need a window (H440) and don't like the completely enclosed idea (H630 & Fractal)

If you value silence; 140mm fans are generally better airflow and lower dB than 120mm.

Will never buy Corsair case again either.

Owned NZXT, other CM, Rosewill, Corsair, Fractal, etc.

It's all about what you like, what hardware you are using and how you use your computer though.

Best case for a PC in 2014? In other words, you mean the best case for a PC in our opinions. The Define R4 is not a 2014 release, so it comes down to which case we like the most regardless of release dates, and you can simply drop the 'in 2014'.

Right now, not made in 2014.... Im giving some case examples that are very popular in 2014. Something you would incorporate to your build in 2014.

  • 4 weeks later...

Like I said it all depends on what you are doing. If you are an overclocking PC gamer that relies heavily upon liquid cooling AND airflow with fans then creating a hotbox with an R4 is not a good idea.

I voted Phanteks, in particular the pro. Seemed like the most balanced case of them all.

I like the Obsidians too but each has one annoying flaw for me related to airflow or filtration. The 350d and 750d has the solid front panel that can restrict airflow, and the 450D has the ventilated front panel but a mesh "filter" behind it that is so open that it might as well not even be there, making it a dust magnet. Apparently its one extreme or the other with Corsair.

Silverstone RV05 IMO. It might not have all the best fearures or design, but my god it looks great, and it can fit a 360*180mm radiator in the bottom I believe.

A ITX case that have really peaked my interest is the NCase. I want one.

http://www.ncases.com/v2/m1.php

I had completely forgotten about that. I prefer the look of Lian Li's mITX cases, but the design of that one is lightyears ahead.

also: piqued not peaked  :P
