Is my CPU dead?

How can i tell if its my cpu or mbo that's dead?

Would the cpu fan still spin if the cpu is dead?

Would the mother board give you some indiaction?

I was running a 4770k and z87 sabertooth

What kind of a PSU are you using?

It's more likely that the mobo is dead, rather than the CPU. I'm guessing it's either the PSU or mobo.

This all sounds weird. They are all solid products, the only reason I see any of them fail is from a bad batch.

Pull out all front connectors and short out the two power pins with a screw driver, maybe your powerbutton is no longer working, or you can switch it with the reset button and try and boot the pc by pressing the reset button.

I think this needs to be in the troubleshooting section of the forum.

Isn't this the Motherboard that can update bios without RAM or CPU installed?

take CPU out and try to update BIOS

*Note: Must apply the attached BIOS updater tool first before using the new Intel 4th Gen Core processors. 2014.06.12 update
