New i7 4790K won't boot on z87
I've just been having the same problem but managed to figure it out.
When you did the BIOS update did you run the application in the zip folder or did you just load the .CAP file in the BIOS? Usually I update the BIOS using EZ Flash 2 in the UEFI BIOS but it seems like you need to actually run the application in Windows in order for the new CPUs to work.

no i only updated it in the bios with the EZ flash utility, but i have been running this bios for more then a week now and when i go into ai suite it says that i have version 2004 so.
But i'm gonna try this and see if it helps thx for the tip there m8

this is correct. it allows the mobo firmware to be updated to accept refresh/devils canyon.
i believe the OP only has half the operation done.
