need help building my pc 780ti or 290x?

ok, so i am looking into buying a pc, i am a newbie, and dont know too much of what i am doing. i have around $2500 to spend on a really high end pc. here is kind of what i have come up with after a bit of research.
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/yxKxbv
i was thinking of maybe changing the gpu to a 2 way sli msi gtx 780 lightining
i will be using this pc for gaming (mostly battlefield 4, crisis 3, watch dogs and all demanding good graphics pc games) i want to run all the games at ultra with all max settings, i will also be doing some video editing and music production but for music production i was thinking of getting a macbook pro but im not sure yet. i will be overclocking my gpu and cpu. and need help also on finiding a good gaming monitor with good colour density, grey to grey 1-2ms response time, less than 10 ms imput lag, and higher than 1080p resolution. and i aslo need a good gaming headset

oh and i already have 2 monitors 1080p but i want a third one 1440p and the graphic(s) card should be able to support 3 monitors or 2 im willing to give one up and use my ps4 on it

That is a nice build a 780ti will handle games just fine at 1440p

But if you really want to get the best performance then SLI 780s are a good way to go personally i have a 780ti and will get a second one when I need the power (and they have come down in price)

For a monitor you have the choice of either an IPS 1440p monitor or looking for a 120hz display, I prefer the colour accuracy and viewing angles of IPS/PLS and since you probably wont be running AAA games at 120fps at 1440p 60hz should be just fine

Look for the Asus 1440p pb279q, AOC Q2770PQU (my monitor) are both good options but there are plenty out there

This is a touchy subject and there is a high chance of fanboyism.. I would personally recommend the 290 over the 290x.. The extra performance of the 290x is not worth the extra cost..

Get either an Sapphire 290 TriX or Powercolor 290 PCS+ or a EVGA ACX 780 Ti, the Direct CU ii cooler is really bad.

780Ti, especially in 1080p, and I think at 1440p (although probably not as much). The 780Ti kills the 290X at 1080p, and it holds its own at 1440p.

Get dual 780's. It's just generally a better choice, and can also handle 4k.  Also, get an audiophile headset and something like a Blue Yeti or Audio Technika AT2020 for mic. Much better setup.

Dual 290's would be cheaper and have more vram for 4k

A single powerful card is better than 2 less powerful cards. It makes more sense to get a 780ti now then I sli in the future. As going sli right of the bat mean you can't upgrade in the future (I know you can but 3way sli doesn't make sense)

Take it up with linus, he directly said, 2 780's is a better choice than a 780 ti. It's price to performance is apparently way higher.

Personally wouldn't recommend them due to there heat. But yeah, true.

Sapphires cooling solutions certainly would get the heat away from the card. 2 krakens though, not so sure if I like that idea. Be a bit...messy. Especially  an H110.

I just want to let people know, that the 290 does not kick off a ton of heat. Everyone thinks that its a fucking hot card to run because the refference model sucked, but its not MUCH more than a 780ti and with a nice aftermarket cooler, it runs cool as well.

I know 2 780's are miles more powerful than a 780ti, but in the future throwing in another 780ti will give a huge performance increase for not alot of money. Whereas going 3 way sli is crap. It doesn't make sense building a new system and going SLI right off the bat, sli is good for upgrading your current system (unless you need and absolute massive amount of power, but I really doubt the OP needs more power than what a 780ti can already put out)

Just wanted to weigh in on the R9 290. I have 2 Saphire Tri-x in my 3 monitor rig and they rarely break 70C. I also oc'd my CPU so the heat from the cards did not limit me there either. My case is a Corsair 540 Air with stock fans and 3 Nexus 120s, so nothing outstanding. I probably wouldn't jam them in a tiny case, but I don't think these cards are particularly hot.

I agree with the r9 290X option but id rather get a 290
your cpus is gona be bottlenecked by your motherboard though. why don't you get a z97 chipset ? mostly with a 4790k you will have less compatibilities issue and better performance :D

There is only 1 1440p 144hz panel and it a rather expensive Asus TN monitor

5ms is literally nothing, please do not read into the "ms" war. thee are monitors rated at 1ms that still have 13-15ms of input lag

I game primarily on fast paced FPS games and it is buttery smooth with very little input lag

Also you do not currently NEED a second 780ti for 1440p, You only need it if running surround monitors or 4k. In 6 months to a year when the 780ti no longer provides 60fps in the latest games you could buy a second one to keep it currently

But you will likely not be running games at 1440p 120fps consistently
