Posted June 18, 2014 Alright, So I am having a bit of trouble deciding. My birthday is coming up on July 1st and I don't know if I want a new monitors or a new phone? My current phone is an iPhone 4 (2010 phone). It's been slow, lagging, graphics in games aren't great, it's just having a hard time keeping up with everything. I was maybe planning on getting an iPhone 5S or just waiting and getting the iPhone 6 as a late gift. I could also get new monitors. I plan on getting 2 but we'll see. My current monitor is an 19" off-brand TV that only goes up to 1440x900. Please help me decide! Lol
 But I recently chose a monitor over a phone, (I also had a 1440x900 monitor) and now have an Acer HL236HL BID. And I am extremely happy with my choice. GTX 760 ASUS Direct CU II, Intel i5 3570K@3.4ghz, 8GB RAM@1600MHZ, ASUSP8Z77-V LX, Fractal Design Define R4, Sandisk 128GB SSD Just like to point out the irony: come on most people don't come here to ask questions or advice about mobiles. Sure LTT and Tech quickie get lots of views from non-hardcore PC fans but that's certainly not the case here let's not kid ourselves. ------- Current Rig -------
 Depends on the phone, really. Seeing as you said iPhone, I'd get the monitor/s, as i despise Apple's iOS.
 Posted June 18, 2014 Author do you have a phone renew soon, a nexus 5 is really good and really cheap Meh. I don't care for Android. It's not that I don't like, it is a great platform but in my own experience using it and opinion I prefer iPhones. (Bring on the hate)
 It has amazing colors and viewing angles, and is amazing... But it has a lot of glare, so if you have a window on your screen don't go for it. Posted June 18, 2014 That's a good answer: Get a so so 1080p monitor and a Nexus 5. It will be better than going for a really fancy dual monitors or an unnecessarily high end phone. ------- Current Rig -------
 Posted June 18, 2014 You've got an iphone 4....get a monitor. Not even a question IMO. Beneath this mask there is more than flesh. Beneath this mask there is an idea, Mr. Creedy, and ideas are bulletproof. As I get older I get angrier more cynical, meaner. I feel some warning posts coming. I feel a ban coming. I was warned. Posted June 18, 2014 'Shudder' Ignoring the fact you are considering an iphone, if you have a working phone get a monitor. A better monitor will make you more productive if you work with a PC often, and will present a noticable change in visual quality - a phone will at best be useless for any real work, and at worst distract you from doing useful stuff. Plus as long as you are sensible with your phone use, any smartphone from a couple of years ago should still last another couple of years before it needs replacing - most people call, text, occasionally email, and maybe get into the latest mobile game fad but nothing more. My current monitor is a 1440x900 also - i used to have a 1080p one. It hurts more and more everyday. Monitors without a doubt. Everything said by me is my humble opinion and nothing more, unless otherwise stated.
 But I wouldn't recommend getting an Apple phone. I have the Droid HD Maxx which I am very happy with. if anything I recommend any Android phones more than any Apple phone. Except the galaxies I really don't like them.
