if youll be doing rendering and gaming, the i5 is the obvious choice

And that's what I thought, Untill I got rid of the AMD cpu and mobo, and the i5-4440 is $191, compared to the $120 for the AMD chip. But then I went to add a good motherboard with a VRM Heatsink and a trustable brand and is compatible with 32gb of ram, since I have a friend who is sending me 3 kits of 8GB ram, the same ones i'm going to buy. . For $80 I could get said motherboard, pushing me over $30 over budget that I just can't spend. Thus leaving me to the cheaper, amd build.

A friend of mine did some video editing and rendering (Final Cut Pro) on an i5 Sandy Bridge macbook pro and he didn't have any issues.

I'll be rendering with blender, so it's going to use the IGP in most cases, and I believe the AMD's IGP is much stronger

For gaming yes but encoding it's not close at all.

A 4670k is around 5-10% faster than the locked i5 above but if you consider a 4670k you should OC it which brings another ~20-30% out:

Good point! Both will be fine for minecraft and other small games but the i5 beats the pants off of the A10 in mostly any rendering of any sort.

Honestly, its better to go with the 4670K if anything but the other locked i5 is also great...

From personal experience, buy a budget computer with cheap parts is a bad idea, i am using a budget gaming rig right now, even though i was on a budget, i still think t othis this day i shouldve saved more money for a better, intel  i5 based system instead of looking for cheapest system. A 3.5 ghz intel i5-7 is always going to beat a 4.1ghz amd....

Why do you think AMD is cheaper and Intel is more expensive?

AMD gpus are also cheaper, yet often out perform Nvidia gpus. AMD has always been the more cost efficient of Intel (for cpus) and Nvidia (for GPUs).

we are strictly talking about CPU talk...

AMD is cheaper because it doesnt have as physical and internal features. All we are trying to tell you is that Intel CPUs are better than AMD

Still not denying that I personally prefer Intel--hence why I have a 4670k in my build; I'm simply responding to your comment about AMD being cheaper than Intel. Also, if Intels were unanimously better than AMDs, no one would buy AMDs processors.

They are. Gaming benchmarks don't show it because the gpu hits the limit. CPU's arent tested in properly tested and any amateur makes the same mistake.

OKay, I guess nodoby understands my situation. I will not be getting an i5 because of the cost, with a motherboard that supports 32GB of ram, it goes way past my budget, remember, I am working with $400 here. Later on down the road I will be getting a broadwell chip and motherboard, but for the time being, I am going with the APU build.

Sound good, i understand your situation... im we are just trying to settle a discussion of AMD vs Intel CPU/IGP. Your decision is a fair decision as of your budget, good choice in going with Intel Broadwell or D.C.  in the future! Good day

Do you need now 32GB or you want to have the option to do it in the future?

If you don't have plans for 32GB, swap that 1x8GB out for a 2x4GB kit and perhaps add another set soon
