We're having these "WCCFT" rumors since February, don't get excited. Also 2 threads of quoting the same source hardly count as "many rumors".

I like mine better.

 

Either way, bring costs down, minimize power consumption, and you've got yourself a damn fine GPU. Would love to see what this could be used for in a server environment.

Mate, with the amount of rumours that have been coming out about all the major products over the last couple of years you could be forgiven for thinking the board of directors were all house wives.

People have the misconception that a 256 bus is automatically worse than a wider one, which is not necessarily true. What's important is how many giggle-hertz its operates at. A 384-bit bus at 1.75Ghz (GTX 780ti) performs pretty much the same as a 512-bit bus at 1.25Ghz (R9 290X). For all we know this 256-bit bus could be operating at a crazy 3 or 4 giggle-hertz. Or all these rumors could be completely wrong and it will turn out that the GTX 880 will have a 1024-bit bus, because there's really no way to know for sure.

to determine how much RAM can be accesed at any given time, you have to look at the bandwith. and bandwith is dependent on bus width and RAM speed. so a wide bus doesnt matter when ram is slow like it is with amd. they get the same bandwith as NVIDIA with fast ram and narrow bus. im not sure about this when it comes to GPUs, but CPUs used to be going more and more parallel when it came to memory bus, going up to 128b, but iirc they are now at 32b, since its more efficient to have fast serial access, than slow parallel access :)
