Using AMD GPU in a Hackintosh

Hey!

I'm planning to build a Hackintosh in the near future, but I don't want to use a Nvidia GPU because they're just terribly expensive... Does anyone know if you can use the Intel HD 4400 for OS X, and a AMD 280X for Windows?

I'm pretty sure you can make a 280x work with windows if I'm not mistaken?

All Macs with GPUs use AMD GPUs, they never use Nvidia. So yes it will be fine

The only Mac that uses a Radeon GPU is the Mac Pro atm the higher-end macbook pros use Nvidia GPU's.

I had some time at the TonyMacX86 forum, and I fond that actually Nvidia GPU's are almost always the GPU's that work in a Hackintosh..

Then that is not an iMac Apple do not ship the iMac with a 270x. It's only mobile GPU's and all are Nvidia.

My friend is an Apple fanboy and he has no clue how to replace a GPU. It has an R9 270(x) for sure because it said in the "about this mac" section.

That is not a current model and his can't of come stock with one because Apple do not ship iMac's with Radeon gpu's atm.

an iMac with an R9 270x does not exist they do not ship with non mobile GPU's and all are Nvidia right now. and back to topic yes a radeon will work.

Apple do include kexts for a lot AMD cards. If they're not in the latest releases of OS X, you can just use the old ones.
