Buying a 2nd-hand computer. which tests to run and what to look out for?

H4X3R

This may be a repost, but in 30 mins i will buy a 2nd hand computer. I need to know which programs to install and what to look out for. It would be nice if the list is in bullet point form so that i can easily have a good overview and install the programs quickly abd i may misread something if in paragraph form.

Thanks :)

download prime95/burnin test and hwmonitor and make sure temps are good and that everything works well.

If its a gaming computer, I'd also recommend downloading a game and seeing what kind of performance you get.

Better late than never :P

I bought it yesterday and i just set it up yesterday night. Ran prime95 and aida64 for cpu (and aida64 for GPU as well), unigine valley + heaven (for GPU) and memtest for the memory.

Everything is running fine and there are no issues :)

SSd should make up for the most of it IMO, responsive in Windows as well as all things happening in the background you cannot see while doing intensive things :)

Just bought the mx100 512GB variant :)

I'll be transferring most of my games + OS to it. May get another SSD in time once they are cheaper.

Ah right on, how much were you able to pick it up for if you don't mind me asking. And how does it run?

It has the specs mentioned above:

Asus Crosshair V Formula Z Gamer Edition

AMD FX 8350

RAM, DDR3-1600, CL9 - 2x 4 GB

Seagate ST1000DM003 interne Festplatte (8,9 cm (3,5 Zoll), 7200rpm, - 1 TB

Enermax EPM600AWT Platimax 80Plus Platinum PC-Netzteil 600 Watt

Corsair Hydro Series H80i

Sapphire Radeon R9 290 Tri-X OC, 4GB GDDR5

Bitfenix Colossus

Software:

Windows 8 Pro. x64

Office 2013 Pro.

Games:

quite many recent ones

It runs very well. My room gets a little hot but the computer stays cool and quiet even after 8hrs of gaming.

I am happz with it so far :)

I got it for 1000 euros. He also gave me a xbox 360 wireless controller for the PC for free, i don't use it but it's a nice add on and i may just use it or sell it off cheaply to a friend.
