Crazy 290x temps?

Glad i'm not crazy. Would switching pci slots affect it at all?

it's because of the 40c delta T on idle and 60c delta T on load.

it should be about 20~c and 60-70c delta T

Hawaii cards have been having a blackscreen issue. It looks like it is related to the VRAM and like RMAing the card is the only real fix for it.

What driver are you using now? From what I've gleaned from the net, the latest 14.6 driver raises GPU temps by 3C - 5C, upon install, I did notice my GPU idle temps were higher. The previous drivers had this stuck in 3D clock bug even though the GPU is idling, but it did not affect everyone who had installed it. Mine was though, my dual R9 290X would stick to 1100mhz core evn on desktop. The latest driver resolved that issue for me, but raises temps a little....btw, Sapphire Tri-X is good enough, Vapor X is better while Toxic is just plain awesome.

I think that was the problem. I manually set the fan speed and it went to 38c idle.

 

They were spinning though but I guess they barely were?

Have you coreected the fanspeed setting? Perhaps that explains your high temp......adjust it and check temp.

Yes. I put it to 45% speed at the moment and its idling around 38-40c.

Ahhhh, problem solved w/o the hassle of RMA. Sometimes, users reset fanspeed w/o realizing it......~40C while idling is decent enough.

Its a hot card that was made to run at 95 degrees so 62 isn't bad

Maybe consider this with a closed looped liquid cooler?
