Testing CPUs with bent pins

Hey all,

 

I recently bought a small untested lot of CPUs with bent pins (and a few that aren't tested that don't have pins), and I was wondering what the best stress test to run them through would be if I manage to get them to "work"? Looking for something that might test multiple aspects of them so I'll know they're not going to crash randomly during certain tasks. Not really sure what the best way to go would be though.

OCCT has a good test suite.

As long as the pins are intact, you shoudn't have anything to worry about. 

I've fixed my share of them over time and never had problems with the way they worked as long as the pins themselves were intact after getting them straight. 
I've even had a few that were bent so badly I thought the pins were going to break from fixing them, but they didn't break and those chips were fine when tested.

Main thing is to get them straight so they go into the socket without having to force them in...... Or you'll just have bent pins all over again.

Yeah that's kind of what I figured too. I'll keep that in mind! Did you have any technique you found worked best?

 

I don't really have the patience to test them, so I'll probably pass them off to my father; I was more interested in the 9000 series Ryzen processors. Still, hopefully I'll be able to break even and get a free CPU out of it to carry on my free PC build.

on old Intel cpu's with bent pins I found a credit card is just the right size/thickness to slide along and straighten the pins.
