It says "Auto-focus 1920x1080" on the front of it lul. Theres tons of these cheapo projectors around; Techmoan gave one a shot.

For me it would be good enough.

It still pains me to see cheap TVs in stores with a 1366x768 resolution. I guess it is "HD Ready" but cmon... it's been DECADES now!

They probably justify it because the chip it's built around can decode 4k.

Yeah, when I shopped for a projector, all the cheapo ones used that sort of deceptive marketing.

Seen some that said they were 4k, yet the native res was 800x600... Like... come on.

 

It just means they can take 4k inputs (whatever the fuck that is) while outputting less...

I would avoid these cheap Chinese ones.

They often fail really quickly. I got two and both failed similarly. With a large yellow spot on the image. Dunno if it's the polarizing lens or overheating issue... But it's permanent.

It’s not just cheapo brands that do this. My father had a 42” NEC plasma display years ago, and it would absolutely accept a 1080i signal through various connections, but the panel was 480P. The pixels were gigantic and very noticeable at a reasonable distance.
