im currently have an SLI setup in my rig.

Card 1: Nvidia Geforce EVGA 9800 GTX

Card 2: Nvidia Geforce EVGA 9800+ GTX

Under my Device manager for the second card the 9800+

It says its a 230 GT ??

And If I try and change the Fan speed with any card tweaking software it crashes my system and

get a blue screen

Specs:

MOBO: Asus A8n-sli premium

Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+

Ram: 4GB Kingston

I have tried Both card By them selves and when I do they are both named the RIght name

9800 and the 9800+

But when in SLI second card the 9800+ is marked as 230GT.

I have tried installing and uninstalling the latest drivers and used Geforce Experience and Also manually. still the same result.

What do I do ??

I say do a complete uninstall of the nVidia drivers once more

but try swapping the position of the GPU

so it will be this

Nvidia Geforce EVGA 9800+ GTX

Nvidia Geforce EVGA 9800 GTX

re-seat the GPU and the SLi bridge

and report us the result

Buy a newer graphics card? It seems like you have tried everything that could be a problem. I'm guessing the cards are just too old, or have compatibility issues with themselves.

NEW PC build: Blank Heaven   minimalist white and black PC     Old S340 build log "White Heaven"        The "LIGHTCANON" flashlight build log        Project AntiRoll (prototype)        Custom speaker project

What drivers are you using? Those are old cards. If using the newest, back down the drivers to previous versions. Rinse and repeat until the proper SLI combo is recognized.

whoops now i remember

the newer nVidia drivers have drop support of older GPU series so it might be this issue

Yes, you are right. Anything older than the GTX400 series is no longer supported by Nvidia

So the only solution is to use only one graphics card, or buy a new card.
