just got an add on facebook this looks a lot like LLT water bottle is it a copy? Knock off?

It's a waterbottle. From what I know, the LTT water bottle is like many other products, they chose a supplier in China and had a graphic printed on it. They didn't design the bottle, they chose it out of a catalog.

The lid looks a little sus. But I also find it funny that they basically copied the style of the LTTStore website too (mainly with the description).

Probably just bought a bottle from some company in China and put the art on them. I work for a company who sells blank drinkware for this purpose. We sell all the stuff needed to add the artwork as well. Not to mention Drinkware is a BIG seller for us.

I truly don't know. A company like LTT I would think their storefront is custom. But the description of the potential copycat is kinda in tune with how LTT writes theirs.

it reads sus becaue its and AI text, if you are not used to a that style it has an very unncanny valley effect on you.

 

LTT does not use AI generated text.

Lid looks sus to me too. And just because it's been communicated to be customised by CW engineers. Making it unique while rest of the bottle is OEM design.

Sus how? That is also a standard product from China. I just went on taobao and it took me less than a minute to find hundreds of different shops selling that exact lid.

Yea, I don't think it is. I found multiple supplies that have it as a stock item. I could be wrong and hundreds of companies are all copying LTT, but I find it more likely that they ordered it from a catalog.

As far as i'm aware, they only adjusted the lid, and that, in fact looks slightly different in the "handle breaking zone" of earlier designs.
My bottle in front has the redesigned lid with outside thread. 
-> Not sus imho, water bottle from catalog and a slightly different lid.

Linus said they modified it. Originally it probably was OEM. Hence my note on it.

I'd be curious to know what they modified, because by the pictures, they are identical.

The only two things I know of are threads for the mouth part are on the outside rather than the inside, and the two gaskets have a tab making them much easier to remove and clean. The LTT logo is also on the inside of the lid. However it also appears the handle on the real LTT bottle has also been modified. I know Linus broke an older version of it on the WAN Show to demonstrate the differences between the two. The new one did not break (he used his personal bottle as well to demonstrate, proving his confidence in the strength of the redesigned one).
