I think I may have made a mistake. I was asked to build a gaming PC with a budget of €1400, and I did my best to allocate the funds wisely. I prioritized the GPU, CPU, and PSU, spending a bit less on the case. My reasoning was that while the case matters, it didn’t have to be the highest-end option. I focused on finding a mid-tower with ATX support and potentially good airflow.

Despite the lack of reviews in English or Portuguese (my native language), I chose the Cooler Master CMP 510 just following my intuition . For the GPU, I initially recommended the ASUS RX 7800 XT, a two-fan model with a length of 28 cm, which would fit just fine in the case.

After sending the parts list to the person, he told me he found a cheaper GPU,the XFX 7900 GRE, which has a length of 33.5 cm. I said, “Okay, great; it’s cheaper and offers similar, if not slightly better, performance, so go for it.” I remember double-checking the GPU and case dimensions to see if it would fit, but I missed the detail that the 35 cm length clearance was without front fans installed. The retailer didn’t mention this detail; it was only on Cooler Master’s website, which I realized just yesterday out of nowhere—likely because I have OCD, and sometimes I get these nagging doubts.

There’s more: I even recommended he to buy three additional fans (two for the top and one for the back) to create a balanced setup with six fans total , and now if I have to remove 1 of the front fans 1 of the fan´s he bought will be unnecessary or at least not needed as much as before maybe , at least imo , but I can be wrong anyway.

I found a post on PCPartPicker about a complete build using the same case and a GPU with a 33.8 cm length. It seems like they managed to keep three front fans installed anyway (https://pcpartpicker.com/b/qn4dnQ). This gives me a bit more confidence, but I’m still anxious since the parts haven’t arrived yet. I’ll be the one building the computer, and I already feel like I’ve messed up.

So how much I can be sure that the person that have posted on pcpartpicker have listed the right components without a mistake and that the gpu will fit in the case ?

User experiences are really the only way to tell because the manufacturer specs are not normally 100% accurate and there can be variations between cases and different revisions anyway.

You could possibly swap the front fans for thin fans, but personally I wouldn't worry about it since the cooler on a GRE will be pretty good with or without an intake.

So I misunderstood the text, and it only reduces the space for the GPU if there are both the fans and a radiator installed, not just the pre-installed fans?

I don't think so, but if it does, you can just remove that front fan. Most likely not necessary.

the thing of removing one fan is that I have recommended to buy 3 before and the parts were already ordered , and then I will take 1 fan off. Looks like that I don´t know what I am doing to the other person .

You got one for yourself because you were ordering parts at the same time.

You can refund that part of the order 😀

I'm just saying that you say you decided two was best and kept one for yourself.

They caused the issue partly by changing the spec to the GRE.

You might be fine anyway and it'll all fit snugly.

yeah , seems that I was dumb and misread  the specs of the case and was worrying for nothing .

no, cause other person bought gpu you didn't initially recommend and couldn't be bothered to check if it fits... looks to me that other person has no idea what they're doing lol.

Do you get like 500 bucks minimum for building this pc,  because otherwise i wouldn't care personally tbh, it's not really your fault,  that's besides the gpu will probably fit anyway

LOL

Just own up to the small calculation mistake, and remind that he opted for a part that was not in your original design. The savings more than offset one fan.Or check the clearance and look to see if a Low profile fan would be sufficient. But honestly it is not likely to matter in terms of cooling.

It is partly because the person sent me the link before he ordered the GPU, and it is partly my fault because I said he could buy it.

Yes, he doesn't have any idea how to build a computer or how it works, but since I am the guy who knows something about it, at least enough to build one, I should have double or triple checked the compatibility, even with the change in the GPU.

I think at the time I checked really quickly on the retailer's website to remember what the max GPU length was on the case, since it was a day ago that I gave the price of all the parts and the part links. The retailer only stated that the max GPU length was 350 mm and no further info.

well no, we are human, mistakes are normal, and our value as people is not based on a small mistake like this.

This is a minor issue anyone could make.
