Been planning to get a Framework when my current laptop dies for a while now, and well, my laptop died (I opened it up and the hinge busted through the screen).

Before I pull the trigger though I just wanted to check something, since my old laptop is pretty useless now, can I avoid ordering an ssd and Windows by just popping out the SSD from my old one and inserting it into my Framework? Like, I know the SSD is compatible, and I know its possible to transfer a windows licence to a different machine, Im just wondering if my plan to just put the old drive in and boot up will work, or will that cause problems?

Yes it will work. Windows is way more robust these days.
But i would advise after the backups are done, do what @Needfuldoersaid.

When i ask for more specs, don't expect me to know the answer!
