Controller-only games on Steam

How many people here have encountered this tag on Steam?

 

 

It's very rare, but it is on a handful of games. I'm just wondering if there's a curator list of games that are controller only.

that's a new one for me.. so the game dev just straight up couldnt be arsed to map controller button inputs to buttons on the keyboard at all?

nah, there's plenty of them, usually those "one handed" ones, if you know what i mean!

Anyway, to answer OPs question, there doesn't seem to be a curator or user group on Steam that tracks these things and the filters in the main search also don't allow to search for games exclusively played with a controller.

i got plenty of games that are intended to be played on a controller, i just never seen any pc game dev lazy enough to not also map keyboard buttons.

I wouldn't call this lazy, given that these games explicitly require the use of analog sticks to control the feet of the character. It's not entirely the same as EA's Skate series, if you've played those, but those too would be literally impossible to play with a mouse and keyboard. Most games "intended" to be played with a controller use rather mundane inputs that can be mapped 1:1 over to a keyboard, where the analog input can be approximated with the use of modifiers (like toggling between walking and running). These games are fundamentally incompatible with that though.

Hahah, I actually like those, can play it with kb. The whole premise intended to be played with a controller is a joke. It means devs only know how to use controller and are lazy to make game m&k supported, like some games out there. They work but are scuffed, Souls or Anthem yuck, ran so bad. So only the so called intended part I could understand is if game is multi platform so it's designed around both inputs.

Here's one. A 3D Platformer with N64 style graphics.

 

that is one genre I believe would be better with controller. Imagine trying to play banjo-kazooie with mouse & keyboard.
