I am seeing a number of threads out there about poor performance in Watch Dogs. Let me start by saying that I did NOT pirate the game. I purchased a hard copy from Ubisoft and they sent them out early. Mine arrived on Thursday.

Considering my system spec (i5 3570k @4.7 & 2x GTX 780's), I should be able to crush this game. My frame rate generally sits around 60, but I have seen it fluctuate from 35, all the way up to 120+. But anywhere out in the open world the frames are generally in that 50-60 range. Also worth noting that my cards are running at around 60-70% usage, per card. And just under 3GB of VRAM is being used. And while most people would be happy with 60 frames, as a 144 Hz monitor owner.. 60 frames just doesn't cut it.

What in holy hell do we have to do to get a good open world game that runs smoothly. Sleeping Dogs did it and that was a good looking DX11 game. It ran beautifully. So why do games like GTA IV and Watch Dogs run like such shit. Monitoring my CPU, the highest it goes is around 85% use so I'm not maxing anything out. Battlefield 4 pushes my system similarly with my CPU going anywhere from 85-95% and my GPU's running at about 80% each. The difference is, I get 150-200 frames on BF4.

In this day and age if someone builds a $3,000 computer, you should expect every game to run amazing out of the box, bu the dev's are all too worried about getting a solid, albeit blistering, 30 frames per second on the consoles. Where is the love for the PC? Why don't we have a proper driver? The 337.81 driver still isn't out for the general public. I had to get some sketchy Chinese driver from Guru 3D, when the driver should have been up on Geforce weeks ago. I'm just getting sick of it. Nvidia used to be on point with drivers releasing weeks before a game came out. Now they seem to be worse than how AMD used to be.

Is anyone else out there as frustrated as I am?

Hey, what's up slunts?

They should of put more money into the game. A lot of the budget I'm assuming was spent on advertising.

Nvidia/Ubisoft should release a patch in the next week or two.

Another thing I'm disappointed on, is no support for Nvidia surround, it's the 21st century.

No, I bought a physical copy. Digital copies won't be released until the actual date. In recent memory with Black Flag and Splinter Cell, Ubisoft likes to release their games at 1PM EST on the release date. If that holds true the digital codes will be out some time, Tuesday afternoon around 1PM EST.

Hey, what's up slunts?

woooooooooww.  Maybe the massive release delay was just so they could improve the consoles.

Hey, for all we know these discs were printed at the time of the original release, last year. And everything they have worked on since then will come in a day one patch.. Fingers crossed.

Mine is running it pretty good. However I'm only running it on high on my 680. I still get atleast 50 FPS, and more often 60-80 fps. No stuttering or anything. I'm even using a super old (but very stable) Nvidia driver.

Im in the same boat, got an early copy from ubisoft due to fast shipping and the game doesnt run near as well as i feel it should, sli 780's and an oc'd 4770k i see all sorts of frame rate issues and stutters with the game.

Could it just be lack of proper SLI support for the game? I know that XFire and SLI can have issues with certain games, maybe this happens to be one of them?

I don't worry about the stuttering and frame drops. Chances are with a new nvidia driver everything will be fixed.

But 3gb of vram? Are they serious?

First, they say that a 670(which is a 2gb card) can max out the game and then ppl say that it's using way more than 2 gigs. That makes absolutely no sense.

A new driver should be up today/tomorrow and if it is the game, a patch is probably going to solve it soon, I hope. Just wait.

I would assume this is all few of the reason your game is running very well, perhaps of bad SLI-scaling? I'm waiting for my Dedsec Edition copy, let the wait begin!  :D

I might be psycho.

There are a few issues;

- First one being vram hitting its limit, using the hard drive a few secs as swapdrive thats why you see your gpu loads dropping all the way down to 5% and 1fps -> stutter
- With SLI you'd be most likely CPU bound

I figured out how well this game is multithreaded, sadly it's shit not even in the level of Crysis 3. Basically 2 cores 30 fps - 4 cores 60 fps - 6 cores 70 and all 12 threads 70 fps again.

To fix the first issue, in the main menu you have the setting "textures" with 3 levels: 1st is for 1GB cards - 2nd for 2GB cards - 3rd 3GB cards. For a 3GB card set it to 2GB, for a 2GB set it to 1GB etc. A single 780 shouldn't be bottlenecked by a i5 but you see me being bottlenecked by my 3930K at 4.2GHz with 2 cards in SLI. Didnt try to figure sli scaling out in depth yet but it's nothing spectacular like a 30-40% gain.

chances are that it needs

1) nvidia driver update

2) day one patch form ubi

3) and knowing ubisoft days 2,3,4,5,.......patch too.

Watch_Dogs runs great, even on a mid-range GPU. My GTX 760 runs it great, but my C2D keeps the framerate down; it's surprisingly light on the GPU. I can run it at Ultra, and get the same FPS as Low, which means the CPU is holding it back :(

I'm getting the 'minimum' Core 2 Quad Q8400, which still uses the same socket as my C2D. I hope this works!

Maybe this will help! Released this morning!

http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/75991/en-us

New in GeForce 337.88 Game Ready WHQL drivers

  • Game Ready - This 337.88 Game Ready WHQL driver ensures you'll have the best possible gaming experience for Watch Dogs.
  • Performance – Introduces key DirectX optimizations which result in reduced game-loading times and significant performance increases across a wide variety of games compared with the previous 335.23 WHQL. Significant CPU overhead reductions in the driver result in performance gains that will often favor CPU-bottlenecked situations. Per usual, results will vary depending on your GPU, system configuration, and game settings.
  • SLI Technology
    • Watch Dogs – updated profile

This is one of the big problems with AAA game companies, they rush games to market. They do this because they know ppl will buy it them wait for a patch to fix the game. I don't buy games day one I wait till they are on sale on steam, by then they have be patched. So I spend far less money and have less problems. I don't like AAA companies anymore because they keep doing things to piss on there costumers, yet ppl keep supporting them.

Nvidia patch notes for the latest beta driver indicate that it has already been update for watch dogs and is proven in game by the fact it has an sli profile ;) other then the stated issues though yes the game is quite good :)
