B7000 or T7000 glue I use for fixing phones might work here

The XPS M1530 I am restoring suffers from a quite common problem where the glue securing the metal palmrest to the frame is no longer effective, leaving the palmrest completely loose.

I am not sure how I should go about glueing this part back on. Should I scrape the old glue off first or leave it be? And I'm not sure what type/brand of glue would be most effective for fusing the two parts. I'd appreciate some recommendations on what glue to purchase.

This

though i wouldn’t use it in the same original pattern

remove all the old glue, use double sided tape for the interior sections and then the glue around the edges, that way it can be removed later much easier if needed, only having to fight glue on the edges
