Need help with my first build

Budget: $4000 CAD (tax included)

Country: Canada

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: AAA Games, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Illustrator, Blender, Maya (I'm planning on a workstation/gaming setup)

Other details: I'm upgrading from a Dell OptiPlex 7440 AIO I got gifted (you can see why I'm upgrading) and its taken a while to save up some money for a new PC, for now I'm going to stick with the monitor and the peripherals

because I cant afford any good ones in the build though I do have a new monitor and mouse in mind (The Gigabyte M27Q-X [I plan on using both monitors] and Logitech G G502 HERO)

I just cant find a solid affordable keyboard but any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I'm also planning to buy everything by next month, I honestly cannot keep working with an i5, no graphics card, and 8gb of ram.

Parts List:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7900X (I know about the heat and solutions for it)

CPU Cooler: ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III 420
Motherboard: MSI MAG X670E TOMAHAWK WIFI
Memory: G.Skill Flare X5 DDR5-6000 64 GB (2 x 32 GB)
Storage: Solidigm P44 Pro 2 TB M.2
Graphics Card: ASRock Phantom Gaming OC Radeon RX 7900 XTX (I know about the coil whine)
Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro (May change as I don't know if parts will fit)
Power Supply: Antec NE1300G M ATX3.0 1300W 80+ Gold Certified
Total excluding tax: $2,952.89 CAD
Total Including tax: $3,336.76 CAD
list also on PCPartPicker

Thanks in advance

It all works although I would look at a Nvidia gpu for what your primary uses will be.

You're not using pcie 5 so a b650 gaming plus wifi from MSI will be more than enough, X670e does offer some more features so you can still go for it

for the same price I'd get the lian li lancool III as it's got great thermals and even supports a 420mil rad up top

they're about $100 CAD more, not much if they do help with your workload. Yes, the 4080 super does have less vram, but it performs the same in games at least and it does perform noticeably better in productivity

A full size keyboard is what I would prefer but as long as they have a numpad I'm fine with it

I can spend about 3000 dollars right now but I wont be able to cover tax if I bought everything at once

also thanks for the suggestions

Yeah I didn't want to go for the best of the best because I'm also trying to factor in other things such as tax and peripherals, if I factor in tax to that it would come out to about $4,318.66 CAD

but I do have one question, why the X3D over the X? I have no clue what L3 cache does.

Now that I think of it id get the 7950x for your case since it’s cheaper and is slower in games but not terrible. Put one of those in one of my builds above and it should be around 4000 cad with tax

Better performance in games but slightly worse in productivity

wait till you get 4000 then

Now that I think of it id get the 7950x for your case since it’s cheaper and is slower in games but not terrible. Put one of those in one of my builds above and it should be around 4000 cad with tax

do you use the gpu for your workload?

Got it

and yes, Blender is a mainly GPU heavy application and I need faster renders it currently takes me a few hours to render even simple things.

Yeah I didn't want to go for the best of the best because I'm also trying to factor in other things such as tax and peripherals, if I factor in tax to that it would come out to about $4,318.66 CAD

but I do have one question, why the X3D over the X? I have no clue what L3 cache does.

L3 cache is used to store data close to the CPU, which is pretty useful in gaming

X3D chips have around 3x more cache than non x3D ones, giving them the edge in nearly all games

7980X3D has one 8 core CCD with cache and another without, it' s like a 7800X3D + a 7700X slapped together 🙂 , so it's powerful for all workloads
