Mineral oil cooling question.

KomsijaGamer

If i put an AIO cooler on my CPU and instead of fans i submerge my radiator in mineral oil would that cool it better. Since if i understood correctly mineral oil dissipates heat decently so wouldn't it be okay at cooling that way. Its probably been thought of and there's a reason why but i cant find this special case and. It seemed like an okay idea to me. I would assume this would work if the heat could be dispersed since lower energy body always takes energy from the one that has more. Thank you for reading!

That makes zero sense. If you want to mineral oil, then go air cooler + pump for circulation, then maybe a radiator on the outside of the case to dissipate some of the heat, but in all seriousness, don't mineral cool.

Air to water radiator dont flow well enough for your stock fans to work in oil. Your idea, although how terrible it is, will still work. Plopping an heat exchanger into a body of liquid, will result in higher thermal mass.

Dont waste money on it.

All you'd do is make a vat of hot oil that you can't even make French fries in. All that heat will still end up in your room eventually because energy doesn't just disappear.

Just use the AIO or a quality air cooler, and crack a window if the room gets too hot.

I sold my soul for ProSupport.

maybe itll dissipate heat better into the mineral oil but then where the hell is it gonna go from the mineral oil?

the heat isnt just gonna magically dissapear once it gets into the mineral oil yk

just stick with a cooler like the phantom spirit 120 if you want cheap with good performance and lasts forever cause its a hunk of metal or an aio like the liquid freezer iii if its a thermonuclear reactor that draws >300w no power limits

if you want the best performance thats viable for a normie just build a custom loop, should be doable for <300$ as long as you arent overspending on ek stuff or something and you get an alternative cheaper brand like bykski barrow alphacool etc.

above that theres car radiator loops that are cheaper and perform better due to sheer thermal mass (i mean the damn radiator is probably gonna be bigger than your case) but need a plated block for mix metal and lots and lots of diying alongside taking up lots of space which is why i gave up on mine and it is on indefinite hiatus till i either buy a proper rad for it + a block and a bucket for the res or just ditch the whole thing and jump straight to phase change cooling

and above that theres phase change for subzero but this is just impractical and you gotta be one hell of an oc nut to even consider dailying one of these, basically maintenence will be a whole lot worse then theres insulation and the ludicrous amounts of power draw, and you also have to build the thing in the first place at the bare minimum a cpu block if you wanna reuse an ac unit

as for mineral oil probably a mix of all the bad things from a custom loop and a car radiator loop but even worse and performance no better than a car radiator loop, but hey its a pc in a fishtank ¯\_ (ツ) _/¯
