Any thoughts?

I would just pick a better psu overall. The choice is fine, it’s a perfectly adequate psu for this build. But this is a 4090 and a 7800x3d, a higher end psu is just overall more suitable in my opinion.
It’s kinda like any other build wheee they cheap out on the psu, only this time as a scale where the required psu is inherently still a higher wattage, ok option.

But I’d choose something like an HX1000i or better, something platinum or titanium rated.

I really thought this was a Tier-A PSU. Well, I will get the HX1000i then. My only question is... will a native 3.0 vs this HX1000i 3.0 make any difference in anything?

This Gen 5 SSD is a very good price,

And this one is cheaper and you wouldn't really tell a difference in their speed realistically, unless you do something specific that actually benefits when SSD reads 8000MB/s instead of 6000MB/s

Storage: Acer Predator GM7000 4 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive  ($265.00 @ Amazon)

It also has slightly better endurance,

The psu tier list is a weird thing, I don’t recommend it too much beyond just as a guide for what makes a good psu good.
The MWE gold series isn’t bad, it’s still good, it’s just not as good as you’d expect to see with higher end hardware like this.

The modern HXi series is native atx 3.0 and pcie 5.0, comes with the 12vhpwr cable and such.

The major differences between them mostly come down to connectivity, there’s more options with the HXi for systems requiring more eps connections and such, which you won’t really need.

The second one is cooling and noise, it’s a more efficient psu with a better fan and cooling arrangement. Most of the time if the fan isn’t outright off, you just in general won’t hear it.

They both come with 10 year warranties, they’re products meant to last a long time, for something that will likely last multiple builds a decade or more later, the better thermals, acoustics and connectivity can be nice to have.

Like my partners pc is using an HX850i from 2014 still, it’s made to last.

It's not terrible, it's just B tier

cheapest A tier PSU in US is this, so if the tierlist can be trusted:

Power Supply: Montech TITAN GOLD 1000W 1000 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply  ($137.99 @ Amazon)

Actually it's more than fine, it's ATX 3.0 now that I look at it,

also 7800x3D is like 200-300% more efficient than a 14700k for example,

Thank you all!

My question is that the Corsair one and others are not the native 12VHPWR to 12VHPWR, it's PSU to 12VHPWR. My question is if that makes a difference?

No, same wiring. Kinda how 24 pin isn’t the same on both ends and such. Just a different pinout.

The last and only time modular psus were all male to male was 2003. 12vhpwr is actually the outlier for seeing that sometimes on new psus.

no, but some PSUs don't come with the 12VHPWR cable, unless my information is outdated

Lmao a 4090 in that will be crazy haha

I measured, it will fit just fine, but I will remove the HDD bays. I have had this case since my childhood, and by a miracle, I found a sealed one lol.

I miss the part where that's my problem. You, Generation Z, don't have respect for the Boomers. Back in the day, this was the GOAT. It was my first PC, and by some miracle, I found a sealed one! I passed it a photo with a golf ball for scale. If I remove the floppy disk and HD bay, it will be more than enough. I'm pretty sure a 92mm intake and exhaust will get the job done, right?

memes aside, cut out the bottom of the case, and add multiple bottom 120mm intakes, put the case on slightly taller feet so it can breathe

that will solve any thermal problems at that point with sheer intake airflow

on paper it should fit, , especially if you dont need to worry about a front intake at that point. Id add some vented 5.25" bay covers so the cpu can still breathe though, because the gpu will basically be down there on its own enjoying the bottom intake while the cpu circulates stagnant air

Hey, I'm at least as boomer as you, started my PC life on a Apple IIE 😛

But I don't feel any more attraction to these old tin can cases than for the formica kitchen table I had in the same era  😄

Anyway, also beware of the card height, old cases were often narrower than today's

Apple IIe? That's a nice piece of tech. You were probably a privileged kid. It's the nostalgia, I think, and the feeling of power over time and matter. Thanks for the tips. It's like 19.8 cm. I will change the cooler for a Noctua NH-U12A or D15.
