LTT Dad hat brass clip

Go to solution Solved by LMGcommunity,

I'd recommend giving it a wash. Hand-wash cold, hang to dry.

You could also try diluting some laundry detergent in warm water and then using a brush.

Hey guys, just noticed this today when I went to adjust my Dad Hat. For a few months of wearing, is it normal to see this much oxidation? I've only ever seen it this bad on 20yr old Yamaha baritones

Looks like it's forming copper salts (and had a waxy smear on the outside of the buckle)

This is likely from excessive exposure to moisture in that area. How often do you wash your hat?

Haven't washed it, but it's been in light rain a few times and sweated in.

Thanks! Sounds great. Just wanted to make sure there wasn't something wrong/unexpected. Copper salts are extremely soluble in water so it shouldn't be too much work to get out.
