My first build, just waiting on my case

Budget (including currency): 260 USD

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming, light editing

Other details: currently just waiting on my case to arrive, I have all other parts needed.

Parts include a Gigabyte B365M motherboard, EVGA 1660, i5-9600, Crucial 32gb DDR4 3200mhz RAM, 750w PSU, Crucial 1tb M.2, and a cheapo cooler.

Managed to come in so cheap as I traded a "freedom stick" for the CPU, GPU and MoBo. I most definitely will be re-building this sooner rather than later because I'm sure there are several games I'll want to run higher.

This will be my first PC aside from a CyberPower pre built I had a few years ago that I had to sell due to finances.

Very excited to try my hand building one. LTTs budget build videos inspired me to try to cobble it together as cheaply as possible. I don't have a monitor yet so I'll be using a 19in spectre TV lol

If you can return the PSU for something that isn't E-tier, you might want to do that now. Where did you buy it?

A weapon, didn't know the rules regarding discussion of those so kept the nomenclature obscure.

Oh, then why mention it?  it's not pertinent at all.    Don't have to tell us how you afforded it, we're just helping with the build.  My builds are funded by my OnlyFans and PornHub accounts anyway 🙂

I  think you got ripped off with your "trade" btw.

Sell another boomstick and get a monitor.  And a better CPU/GPU combo.  That 9600 is not aging well at all.

Yeah, its not good, sorry. PSU's are something you don't want to cheap out on.

Though, that doesn't mean you have to spend a lot, just need to know what is and isn't good. Where did you order from? Or at least what country?

Gotcha. Was just adding context on how I got everything cheap, I'll keep it more so sparse my next post.

The US, I'm past the return date but that's fine I'll just try to sell this one and order another at some point soon.

Think I'm going to get a Seasonic GX-750 once I sell this other one off and get paid. It seems to be highly reviewed

Seems a good choice.

Posted (edited)

Well, I built it and it went surprisingly easy, at least so I thought.

I booted it up, got into windows 10, and began installing all the apps and games I wanted, including updated drivers for the 1660.

All of a sudden, it now constantly freezes and requires a hard reset of the computer to gain control back. At first it was just in games but now even trying to do simple tasks is causing it. Neither the CPU nor GPU get hot before this happens.

I've ran sfx/scannow with the command prompt and fixed any files that were damaged, made sure every driver is up to date, and check several times to make sure everything is plugged in properly.

Not sure where else to go, I appreciate any suggestions. Thank you.

Edit: Nevermind I'm an idiot, was having issues with my outlet I was using apparently causing power spikes and dips
