This Server CANNOT Lose Data…

Shahrad

Thanks again to Supermicro for sponsoring this video and helping us bring this project to life! Check out their AI Storage solutions and more, using the links below:

We’ve gone through many evolutions of our main video editing server Whonnock, but they’ve all shared a similar problem - there is only one of them. Today, we change that by deploying a high availability storage cluster powered by Supermicro’s GrandTwin multi node servers and Weka, a distributed NVMe-first clustered file system. It’s fast… very, very fast.

Not too shabby at all. I say this as someone who’s day job is working on HA storage, backups systems and mainframe kit. Maybe I missed it as I was on the phone at the time, is there an integral battery to clear the write cache in the event of power loss? What second site backup solution is being used?

It cant lose data until Linus gets his hands on it

Also about the AI Jake showed a copy paste of a comment i made on youtube:

Thats what AI should be for in my opinion. Helping boring and/or repetitive tasks like searching through hours of footage for a clip you want. Not replacing a person doing a job like coding, art, writing etc.

Since Linus said that Wonnock being down for 1 min is 50$ in labour + other expenses, wouldn't WEKA pay for itself after a while if it saves Adobe Premier from crashing multiple times a day since the latency is so slow?
