I need a new PSU

Hi. Im searching for a new psu and I don’t know which is the right one.
my motherboard only has one 16 pin input and my GPU only has an eight pin one. Can I use the standard psu’s from ASUS or do I need something special?

that is not a standard connector.

you can't use a normal ATX PSU on that.

Why do you want to change your PSU in the first place? Post a picture of the label on the PSU

:)

i want to change it because my pc keeps crashing caused to my gpu needing 450W but my psu only delivering 250W.

That's a non-standard PSU with only 12V output (and probably 12Vsb). Which GPU are you trying to use, and what are your full specs? What do you mean by crashing? If it's just cutting power suddenly it might be a PSU issue, but if it's giving you blue screens or similar, then it's likely something else.

im trying to use an msi rx 570 4gb oc. also i have an i5 7400 and 16gb drr4 ram. got 1 256gb ssd. by crashing i mean the screen turns in power save mode (all 3 screens) but the fans of the pc keep spinning. i need to restart the system after that. i told you the wrong psu. see the right one below:

The physical size (https://computerstoreberlin.de/Fujitsu-DPS-250AB-99-A-S26113-E590-V50-01-Netzteil-250-Watt-320823_1 ) of that power supply compared to a standard power supply would indicate that a standard power supply won't fit that case. Maybe a SFX power supply form factor could be mounted to it, I honestly do not know. You would also need an 16-pin to 24-pin adapter.

Disclaimer use this at your own risk, but there does seem to be an adapter made for this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/154406903453

the size isnt the problem. i would find a solution. but is the reason for the random screen fallouts the too less watt or is it something else?

The GPU you listed is rated for 150W https://www.msi.com/Graphics-Card/Radeon-RX-570-ARMOR-4G-OC/Specification

The CPU you listed is rated for 65W https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/97147/intel-core-i57400-processor-6m-cache-up-to-3-50-ghz/specifications.html

Those two are 215W at load + whatever the motherboard + drives use + other stuff use, could very well indicate that you are hitting the limits of your power supply. While the power supply is rated for 250W, but who knows how efficient it really is and how much is actually available...

In other words it is difficult to say for sure, but it could very well indicate a limit with the powers supply you have.

The RX 570 is a 150W GPU, so expect the entire system to draw about 220W from the PSU. Depending on how the rails are set up, the CPU and PCIe connector might be on the same rail, although I wouldn't expect that. However, the fans still spinning are a pretty clear indication that it's likely not a PSU issue. A PSU triggering its protections would cause the system to just lose power, as if you just pulled the power cord.

Did the PC work fine without the GPU? Is XMP enabled? Did the GPU work in another system?

That does not matter. 250W should be enough for a system like that.

The system worked fine without GPU but also it did until yesterday.

How do you power the GPU. Does the PSU have a PCIe connector or do you use a molex/sata to PCIe adaptor?

I connect all drives + the GPU over the sata on my motherboard
