MT10 Mini Keyboard Review

Hello all,

I purchased this keyboard from Amazon on February 26th as a quick way to make changes to my NAS as required without having to pull out a much larger keyboard that I would rarely ever use. The keyboard, as of the time of purchasing, can be found for $10 on Amazon. I wasn't expecting a whole lot for the cost, but I must say that my expectations were exceeded so far.

Let's start off with the packaging itself...It comes in a box that advertises some of its core features, including its touchpad functionality.

The packaging inside the box consisted of the owners manual(which is very basic), and the keyboard itself inside of a bubble wrap bag, along with a USB charging cable.

Below are pictures of the keyboard itself, including when it's turned on.

For the last photo, it does not look quite like this in person - my camera was. I'll go back and adjust some settings to get a better photo.

Here we have photos of the back of the keyboard opened, revealing the USB receiver along with the battery itself. It's nice to see that it's a simply battery that can be user replaced. The battery itself can be found on Amazon for about $8.

So now that we got all that out of the way...How does it perform?

For the price, I was expecting mushy keys, but to my surprise, they're very clicky, and everything works as they should. The trackpad is a nice addition, and it also includes dedicated left and right click buttons, both at the top and on the left side. For the larger keys, I did notice that the switch is dead in the center with no proper support outside of that area, so if you press anywhere other than the center, the button compresses down, but the switch itself is not actuated. But I think it's forgivable considering the cost. The manual claims a maximum distance of about 32ft(10 meters), something that I did not test. The most I tested was about 3ft, where I had no issues whatsoever. Ergonomically, it's fine, but I can definitely see it becoming uncomfortable to use after extended usage.

There is one major gripe I have with this keyboard, and it's the receiver itself. While not necessarily a deal breaker depending on usage, it's important to note going in. The receiver is incredibly difficult to plug into a port, and forget removing it in a hard to reach space.

I had to disconnect it for this review, and I had to use pliers to pull it out of the port, which left some marks on the housing as a result, which can be seen at the rear. There appear to be nubs on the inside that might scrape the plastic of the connector. I'll add photos of that as well in a different post within this thread.

All in all, I think this is a very nice product so far, also given the price of just $10.

It can be found here on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01E3B81HU?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
