I plugged the power cable of an X73 RGB into an Z73, it expelled a lot of smoke :/

Sanedish

The title says it all :).

but what I wanna know is: is it somehow gonna be dangerous or affect my cooling? It still works fine as far as I can tell...

Is it still smoking? Which smoked - the X73 or the Z73? Where did the smoke appear to come from? Is that part abnormally hot? Are they still under warranty?

I've been using computers since around 1978, started learning programming in 1980 on Apple IIs, started learning about hardware in 1990, ran a BBS from 1990-95, built my first Windows PC around 2000, taught myself malware removal starting in 2005 (also learned on Bleeping Computer), learned web dev starting in 2017, and I think I can fill a thimble with all that knowledge. 😉 I'm not an expert, which is why I keep investigating the answers that others give to try and improve my knowledge, so feel free to double-check the advice I give.

My phone's auto-correct is named Otto Rong.🤪😂

No, like i said the Z73, From the Inside out of the connector, no, no.

Actually, you said "it", not the Z73. 😉 It's your title. 😄

So, if I understand correctly, you plugged in the X73's power cable into an unstated part of the Z73, which I'll assume was a power cable.

Yeah, that's probably because it drew more current than that connection was able to safely handle. Is there physical damage to the X73's plug or the smoky socket on the Z73? Have you tried testing the wiring of both for anomalous electrical behavior?
