GeForce 551.61 and GTX 1080 OC is blocked ?

Maquak

Hi

After update to GeForce 551.61 drivers i was checking out some benchmarks and realized that my old GTX 1080 now very low clocks, i can only get 1700 max form 2160 ( with no limits on power and OC in msi afterburner and i am using morpheus ii core edition for cooling so my GPU never goes above 52c so cooling is not a problem ) nVidia has locked old GPUs to stock clocks with this driver ? I will try DDU my system and install some vintage drivers..

That is no surprise to me. They want people to get away from old hardware, good old "oh look it has Ray tracing! fuck the need for it, you will get and pay it" style.

Same principle that apple, Samsung and co have.

Also: Please enable XMP/D.O.H.C before asking why your ram is too slow.

what benchmark is that? They blacklist some like Furmark because it pushes cards too hard and breaks them despite staying within power limits, and blacklists can be expanded. Try an actual game instead

It could also be an out-of-date Afterburner problem, OC software like this has to communicate with the driver so a driver update could break OC software too

On my 1080:

I've got rock solid 1822 on stock at 76C while folding, and can still adjust OC settings in Afterburner. Current max clock is 2037 with power/temp limits maxed also sitting at 76C on blower cooler.

Sounds like you may have an issue somewhere. (Also running 551.61, and an outdated version of afterburner 4.6.5)

this sounds like a bug more than a deliberate action. i'd suggest DDU and reinstalling your drivers, and then reinstalling afterburner.

After DDU and reinstall Futuremark is going over 2GHz on GPU .. there was something strange after last Windows and drivers update i my system ( time for clean install .. ).

FurMark 2 is still strange not doing max load on Vulkan or GL, old version of FurMark is going 2120 and 52c.

THX for help .. praise our lord and savior Linus 😉
