ISSUE

My GPU and CPU in CS2 match work load is about 30%-50% all the time, my fps as you can see is about ~100 with this spec.

What im missing in this situation is this CPU with this OC bottlenecks the GPU so hard? Or something else i missing here?

***Sorry for my bad english and mistakes first post in this forum, if you can help please write your thoughts about this situation.

I can give more information if needed.

i mean you are using a Xeon cpu, what exactly did you expect? They are not designed for gaming, they are only used for it when you can get them super cheap on used markets.

CS2 with the update likes fast CPU cores, not a bunch of CPU cores. Youd have to adjust the ingame settings to be in esports mode and go from there.

100+ fps with a 3070 and a xeon is honestly not that bad considering.

thanks for respond so fast I expect way more than this...

esports mode you mean like 1280x720 4:3 or something like that? i went for 1600x900 nothing change really in this setting.

so xeon stopping gpu really bad?

Esports settings have a few guides in each game for what settings to put on low and medium etc. You d have to look up the CS2 Settings guides.

Xeon gaming is pretty much only for people on extreme budgets that are buying used office PC type systems. They get the job done but dont expect them to compete with CPUS designed for gaming.

In my settings everything on low basically.

I dont have much budget too but i guess i made a big mistake choosing this type of build i expect more from this. Thanks for your thoughts. 😞

There are Core i7's nearly identical to this Xeon. it's not because it's a Xeon that's causing this, it's because it's a 14 year old Xeon. The platform itself is what's holding this back.

Main: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti, 16 GB 4400 MHz DDR4 Fedora 38 x86_64

Secondary: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G, 16 GB 2667 MHz DDR4, Fedora 38 x86_64

Server: AMD Athlon PRO 3125GE, 32 GB 2667 MHz DDR4 ECC, TrueNAS Core 13.0-U5.1

Home Laptop: Intel Core i5-L16G7, 8 GB 4267 MHz LPDDR4x, Windows 11 Home 22H2 x86_64

Work Laptop: Intel Core i7-10510U, NVIDIA Quadro P520, 8 GB 2667 MHz DDR4, Windows 10 Pro 22H2 x86_64

but in the screenshot the cpu is barely used? and the gpu doesn't boost... i think it might be a driver or settings issue but i don't see how its a cpu bottleneck,  none of the cores are even close to max?

i agree 100fps seems ok, but this system should probably do a lot higher.

yeah thats the main reason i created this post, i added few more pictures from the game. How its bottlenecking when cpu usage is like this? driver of cpu?

It's more to do with the platform itself rather than raw CPU horsepower. That CPU is missing a lot of features that newer ones have (AVX, for example). Just because it isn't at 100% doesn't mean it's not holding you back.
