Looking for keycaps with the best build quality

cleric_warlock

My first custom mechanical keyboard build with a Keychron Q6 Pro has so far been successful in every aspect except the keycaps. There are several keycaps from the relatively cheap set i bought from them (https://www.keychron.com/collections/keycaps-for-q6/products/double-shot-pbt-cherry-full-set-keycap-set-royal) that are noisier than than they should be due to interference with my switches or not being able to evenly sit on the stabilizers. Through exhaustively eliminating all other possible sources of extra noise, I've narrowed down on my keycaps as the source of the issue in every case. I've been using holee modded durock v2 stabilizers with haimu heartbeat silent switches (stabs and switches are both cherry profile) and my board is full size with 108 keys. I will contact keychron about fixing this, but if that doesn't work out I'd appreciate some good alternatives to consider, assume budget is not an issue - I want perfection from this build. Since the issue with my current set of caps seems to be insufficient quality control with manufacturing tolerances that are evidently too loose, I'm wondering what keycap sets people here have used and found to be of consistently high build quality. All recs welcome!

Drop has some good ones. GMK is considered the gold standard and their keycaps have the corresponding price tag, though they are also cherry profile.

PBTfans is another vendor with good stuff, I also like my Domikey SA set.

I am a bit confused though why you think that your caps are hitting the switches, as far as I know this should not be an issue with south-facing switches. Never had that issue with my Keychron WOB PBT set, though I also use Gateron switches and not silent switches.

There are some caps that are far louder than others when placed on the same switch on the same part of the board with that keychron set. By process of elimination, It could not possibly be anything other than the caps. That's why I say its a build quality issue, since the profile shouldn't be causing any interference, the problem is caps in the mix that are out of spec and passed QC when they shouldn't have.

Sounds logical.

Weird that something like that would happen, but I found keychron also hit or miss with keycaps. Like my WOB, but really disliked these : https://www.keychron.com/collections/cherry-profile-double-shot-pbt-keycaps/products/double-shot-pbt-cherry-full-set-keycap-set-grey-white-and-blue

Another brand that just came to mind is Traitors, of which I am currently using one. Dye-sub PBT, quality is ok and nothing special, but they also don't cost nearly as much as GMK or other high-end ones (i.e. 50 vs 200EUR). I got this one: https://traitorskeys.com/infinity/

I like the look, but they definitely look sharper in the pictures than IRL.
