Is the Ryzen 7 7800X3D enough for the Radeon RX 7900 XTX? Will an air cooler also be enough for cooling the cpu if it is enough?

I am planning on buying a new PC and was originally going to get the 7800 XT for my system but had spare money to upgrade to 7900 XT. I realised that if I was going to get a better graphics card, that I might as well go to the 7900 XTX for the performance. I didn’t want to upgrade processors the sake of money (in addition to the cost of the gpu) so if it was not, I would stick with the 7900 XT (if the cpu is strong enough for this one either) or the 7800XT. If the processor can handle these cards, will an air cooler suffice our will an AIO be needed to cool it?

Nah, your good with all of that.

If you don't wanna Overclock the CPU an air cooler will be fine, and I'd not worry about heavy bottle neck til below an R7 5800x3D, but the 7800X3D is certainly enaugh for that card, probably even for an 4090.

I am NOT a professional and I write before I think, so REFRESH THE PAGE!!!  Theres a 99% chance I've edited my post.

Also: Please enable XMP/D.O.H.C before asking why your ram is too slow.

7800x3D is the best cpu on the market for gaming. A bit odd if youve done some research to ask if its enough O.o

Yes you can use an aircooler on it, Thermalright Phantom Spirit https://pcpartpicker.com/product/GpbRsY/thermalright-phantom-spirit-120-se-6617-cfm-cpu-cooler-ps120se

Anything thats a wraith prism and up will do just fine so even a 4 heatpipe tower like the se 214 xt will do

But you might aswell get a peerless assassin/phantom spirit 120 as @Shimejii reccomended since there isnt that much of a price diff anyways and you can turn down the fans abit more, not like the cpu will actually run any cooler anyways since the heat is insulated by the rubbish ihs and the cache stacked ontop of the cpu cores

Would you say a 7 7700x is enough for a 4080?

What do you mean possibly even for a 4090? What other CPU are you going to upgrade to since the 7800X3D is allready the fastest gaming cpu that you can buy.

A wraith prism will absolutely not be enough for a 7800X3D.

The issue is thermal transfer from the cpu cores to the cooler so you wont really see much benifit past a certain point cooling wise aside from just lowering noise

Transfer is indeed an issue but a larger heatsink will dissipate the little heat going to it better and remain cooler so you end up with a larger delta that helps with heat transfer.

That being said I've never tried to run it on a prism so maybe you are right.

I'd get the air cooler that you think looks the best to you IMO; the cooling requirements of that chip aren't high. Any dual tower is going to be more than enough.

And yes, the 7800X3D is going to be "good enough" for any GPU being sold today because as mentioned it's the fastest gaming CPU available.
