Permission issues with Git and TrueNAS on VLAN

I am using Proxmox to host a collection of VMs including my Windows, and Ubuntu environment, as well as TrueNAS Scale. I am wanting to store local git repos on my NAS directly, (Not the server / remote repos). However there is an issue with file permissions on my shares since git want to run `chmod` on some of the files, and needs to keep track of updates. Which makes sense I am using SMB, with ACL and from what I read it really abstracts the permissions out. This is my first post on the forum, so if I messed something up, or need to supply additional info please let me know.

tl;dr What is a good way of hosting local git repos on a network drive
