What can I do with this fiber optic HBA?

Go to solution Solved by Electronics Wizardy,

Its a fibre channel HBA. Got a old fibre channel SAN? These would work great to connect to it. Otherwise its pretty much usless. You might be able to get IP packets over it, but with how cheap 10GBE stuff is there days thats a much better option to move data faster than 1GBE.

So, a while back I bought an old HP ProLiant ML370 G5, and it came with 2 of these things.

Since I can't find any helpful documentation about them, I want to ask here if someone has an idea what I could do wit them.20240108_203646.thumb.jpg.4a72e8c142903bd812955522fc3afb92.jpg

The chip reads:

EMULEXR

L2B2777

ZEPHYR 1.1

2800648

T 0844

WEK44267.1

KOREA

The backside:

What I found out is that it is a dual channel 2x4Gbit/s fiber optic host bus adapter, but not much more of value.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Sadly I only have the server that they were installed in, I guess I'll just hold on to them until I get some more hardware to play with.

Thanks for the help!
