Looking for good replacement for broken MS Xbox controller for PC.

ConfusedOne

Hi,

My Xbox (for PC) controller has died. It was an official one from MS and has done many years service, but now doesn't do anything.

I bought a Diswoe (Chinese make) 'Xbox like' controller from Amazon (I'm in the UK) but its not great, there is an odd delay when moving the sticks that was not on the original one. Since MS do not appear to make wired controllers anymore, and I have no need for a wireless one could someone suggest a suitable replacement?

Many thanks.

All ms controlers work wired on pc, even without batteries in thme.  You dont need to get a pc specific controler.

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

Just buy a normal MS controller and use it wired, I did that for years until I bought a bluetooth adapter.
I bought a 3 meter long cable for the MS controller.

I will say that using a controller wired with a USB connector is not great for the lifetime of the connector, it's fine if you're careful but really easy to become a failure point. Wireless eventually won me over.

New Xbox One controllers can be used wirelessly through Bluetooth or wired.

If you dislike wireless because of latency, maybe give "Microsoft Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows 10" a try. It uses an optimized form of wireless communication, and at least for me, its easy to feel the difference between using the Microsoft adapter and Bluetooth.

Qoute my reply if you want me to answer back.

Bluetooth Xbox/PS5 controller, depending on your preferred layout. Overall, very well supported on Windows. I'd just go with the official ones.

Absolutely, I can't believe Bluetooth has become the standard for everything because it's just always so bad. I have a pre-bluetooth Xbox One controller with the old adapter.

I know, right!? Me too. I feel like Microsoft only added it because it was losing sales to the PlayStation controller.

Using the controller with Bluetooth is horrible.

Yeah just one wrong drop and you bend the connector off, ask me how I know....

Talking about plugging in a USB cable of course not hardwired.

Many thanks for the suggestions, I'll look into the wireless (with a wire) controllers. The PC is under a desk so little chance of falling over cables.

Thanks for the link. Unfortunatly this is a non-starter for me, its on Amazon US at $46.24usd (£36.80 gbp) shipping to my UK address. Which sounds fine, but there is no way to buy it at all. Instead Amazon wants me to buy via the uk site, and then adds shipping and presumably import duty, coming in at £102.53 (or if you prefer $128 usd). Thats a hell of shipping/import charge. I can get it directly via Amazon UK - but at £80 gbp ($100usd).

Its probably a great controller, but at that mark-up I'll have to pass.

Just cause you get unlucky doesnt mean its inherently bad
