Need a router modem that would work with my fiber connection

fade2black001

Cheap as possible. I don't need anything fancy as I'm not using the Wifi on it. If I keep the setup my ISP gave me it will be like 300 bucks and they said anything would work for it with them. My connection speed is 500mbps. So I'm thinking 1gbps would be perfect if I decided to upgrade my connection but for now 500mbps would be fine

Thank you

Well they gave me 2 boxes. One that the fiber cable goes into that has a ethernet cable with the AC power cable. This one I'm guessing is the modem and the ethernet cable from this box is going in to the other box that has 3 ethernet ports, an AC power port and a USB port on it. One of the ethernet ports is for internet which is what plugged into from the modem to get me internet access.

So I'm guessing I need a combo would be best

The first box in the ONT, you're not replacing that unless they give you a compatible transceiver and everything else (usually credentials and whatnot to access the network). Replacing the ONT is going to add cost in a lot of cases instead of just getting a regular router that plugs into the ethernet cable from the first box.

Makes sense. So I just need a router. I get it.  Thanks

Yup, nothing complicated, find something that fits the bill for your budget and it should be plug and play 😄
