3 dozen VMs I kept deleting because I missed/messed something during the provisioning

My Samsung 870 EVO 2TB that I’ve been using as a boot drive for the past couple of years. Literally died during the opening hours of the event and resulted in 0 points for day one — May 24 2021 - November 1 2023.

It didn’t even have a heavy number of writes on it, below a dozen TBW, I’m not a heavy write user. After looking into it, it turns out the units produced in March 2021 were a known faulty batch. I submitted a warranty claim yesterday, and Samsung will be replacing it with free shipping both ways.

My main rig's Supermicro C7-Z270-CG-L motherboard (which houses the RTX 3070) died right before the start of the event. The GPU is on a shelf waiting for a replacement motherboard.

 

One of the servers hosting a CPU VM decided to go on strike. After some bait & switch negotiations (swapped the same RAM modules around), it went right back to work. I don't think I can trust it to run the entire event anymore, so I will [redacted] it and its two brothers in the cluster from all future F@H duties as soon as they have turned in their existing work.

the PSU was a corsair hx1200i additionally with that 6 dead fan slots over 3 commander pros (I think power spikes cause the 12v feed to die on them I hope to repair)
