What should I upgrade now?

its just a standard cpu cooler from pc specialist pre-builds (yes its a prebuild I wanted to build my own but got a sick deal on the build)

The ryzen 7 7800x3D runs cooler than most intel cpus so you dont necessarily need a super beefy cooler, you can go a for a good quality after market air cpu cooler. I suggest you go for a Dual tower cpu cooler from deepcool, thermaltake or coolermaster, i dont recommend a single tower as it might not be able to cool the cpu properly in full load.  You can just take a 240mm NZXT aio which is also good. Do keep in mind using dual tower cpu coolers could cause ram clearence issues if you got some tall ram! Whats ur ram model rn?

Here are my specs:

GPU: Zotac 3070 ti 8gb

CPU: I7 11700

RAM: 32gb

Fan cooled

I haven't had any issues with regular use but I've recently got a vr and sometimes see frame loss, this could be because of my cpu bottlenecking? just wondered about any thoughts on this.

Thanks

What VR headset?  It may be needing more than 8GB VRAM.

Otherwise I can't see your 3070TI being a bottleneck here.   The 11700 is more of the underperforming 11th gen, so maybe look at CPU upgrades.

Go for the core i9 13900k, if you can then also buy some good aio to cool this cpu, it runs hot.

Or you can go for the core i7 13700k

If the main usage is gaming, then 7800X3D hands down. 13700k is decent, but hot as hell.

Assuming you can afford platform change.

What would I have to do for a platform change?

Looks good, look at the core i9 13900k as it fits perfectly within your budget and it can do anything as it has 24 cores but you can still buy the core i7 that gives you good performance and you can do anything with this

you need a new motherboard and need to clean install windows because you could face some bugs or issues with current windows if you do a platform change

Ah ok that seems like too much of a hassle and new motherboard is annoying, thank you though.

I might get the I7 as it saves me money and then I can get an AIO. Do you have any aio recomendations?

You really should go with the 7800X3D

i dont get why so many guys here still recommend intel CPUs when they perform worse in gaming and consume more power than your GPU

He does not want to do a platform change, which I can agree is a hassle

Yeah you're not going to be able to run that headset at full resolution. What do you have your scaling set at in SteamVR? If it's 100% turn that down, your 3070Ti won't be able to cope. 😛

You have to make a platform change even if you go intel

Like WTF? You definitely need a new motherboard for 12th and 13th gen 🤣

holy shit I totally forgot about the motherboard for that one! If you are going to replace the motherboard to a new one anyway then yeah I suggest the ryzen 7 7800x3D cuz you need a new motherboard and prob anyway have to reinstall windows and plus I suggest a B650 motherboard from MSI, ASUS or Gigabyte AORUS. And plus the price to performance value is good for ryzen cpus rn

found this, would also buy an AIO to go with it. https://www.awd-it.co.uk/amd-ryzen-7-7800x3d-eight-core-5-0ghz-gigabyte-b650-gaming-x-ax-ddr5-wifi-motherboard-cpu-bundle.html?gclid=CjwKCAjw4P6oBhBsEiwAKYVkqwFKVqS6N49T5Q2YXUfNFMrgw64KlrJh2U5l3FMVMvpo9lEcKJ9ESBoC5Y8QAvD_BwE

Oh nice! if you think everything including mobo, aio and the cpu fit in the budget do take it as this cpu will last you a good time for anything! Its your choice, but either way enjoy! The ryzen 7 7800x3D is still pretty darn capable
