Probably you should wait for next year as next year will have more release on 32" 4K OLED 240hz monitor.

4k is game changer compare to 2k, meanwhile 240hz isn't that huge difference/improvement compare to 144hz

I assume you mean 1440p, not 2k (1080p). 4k is a lot of pixels to try to push in gaming, I'd go with the OLED as long as you aren't playing the same game with the same UI 70% of the time.

To me 1440p looks really pixelated at 24" never mind 27".  Going 4K games look a lot more seamless and even some older games look more realistic.  I can just make out the pixels on a 4K 28", though if I had larger I'd sit a bit further away.

There's also the fact text rendering is not as clear on OLED though I never noticed this as a problem on my 55" LG OLED but then I don't spend a lot of time on the desktop on my TV for obvious reasons.

Agreed. They is no perfect monitor.

 

Wee just need to decide which part is not important and which is OK even it is not perfect.

What really did it for me was smartphone screens getting so high DPI, I was dying for a monitor that looked as clean for text and looking at photos.

 

Then I also made the mistake of going from 4K 60Hz to 1440p 120Hz as I had noticed how much comfortable even the desktop was on my laptop at 1080p 120Hz.  I couldn't go back to 4K quick enough as the pixel density is just too low so I lost that "retina" effect.

 

I'm actually looking forward to either miniLED or OLED at 4K 240Hz as while there is diminishing returns in gaming (as I'm not a competitive gamer), the smoother things scroll on the screen I found made a huge difference when spending hours scrolling web pages or moving windows around.  Its just less eye strain and my reaction times feel faster as I can see what I'm doing more clearly even before I stopped scrolling.

I am someone who is very sensitive to frame rate though, I always hated 24fps for movies even projected as it feels stuttery to me and hard to see anything during motion.

As someone who grew up playing shooters at 14-18fps, 24fps would be best case scenario :DD

Yeah but it was less jarring on CRTs and given the resolution of those games was so low, you didn't have the problem where you were focused on a tiny detail on the screen then move the camera and lose track of it.  As graphics improved, frame rate had to improve too to see it during motion.

You cannot compare with M1 MacBook Pro display.

The MacBook Pro is around 1/2 size of current market 32" highest end Mini-LED with around 2x local dimming zone.

• Highest end Mini-LED monitor in market now around 1000+ local dimming zone only.
  • 32" Samsung Odyssey Neo G7/G8 is 1,196 local dimming zone.
• M1 MacBook Pro Mini-LED display.
  • 14" is 2,010 local dimming zone.
  • 16" is 2,554 local dimming zone.

so for my 55 OLED from LG never noticed 

 

i don't agree at 27 inches monitor i cannot see any pixel

1440p is very good for 27 inches 

for 4k go bigger clearly

problem 4k means more power but anyway we can always game 1440p on 4k monitor and use 4k for something else . i am scared even my 4080 would be soso for 4k

If your GPU is 4090 or 7900XTX, you will thank you the monitor is 240hz instead of 120hz as it is easier to over 120fps even on 4K which will occurred of screen tearing. But too reach 240fps is very hard and due to this vsync never need to on, no need limit the games fps and always no screen tearing issue and no impact to input lag.
