Motherboard corrosion questions

Update here is picture of the inside of the sleeper PC case and a spot that I cleaned that had the white corrosion but it seemed to be on many other places like I believe if I remember cuz I already forgot near the grounding screws mounts

I had the motherboard for about 30 days from Amazon and just basically outside the return window but went to turn on the system refuse to post took out the motherboard saw several spots of corrosion white corrosion got a stop toothbrush with isopropyl alcohol and now what boots I don't know if my case had anything to do with it or if the motherboard is going to go bad

Can you break this down a little more understandably?

You had a motherboard for over 30 days?  In a box?  In the machine?  Did it ever work before?  Corrosion?  Was it outside in the humidity for 30 days?

Corrosion is best washed off with dishwashing chemicals using a brush. After cleaning, the board must be rinsed with water and immediately dried with a special dryer (a hair dryer is also suitable).
CMOS battery CR2032 must be removed prior to cleaning and reinstalled just prior to power up.
CPU socket must not be washed with a brush. At the time of cleaning the board, the CPU socket must be closed with a lid!
If you clean the board well from corrosion, then there is no threat that it will break from this.

when drying, it is advisable not to heat the board above +50°C/+122°F

It takes about 10-15 minutes to dry the motherboard with a regular hair dryer. Make sure no water remains in or under the slots.

I end up cleaning it with IPA and It booted up this morning I might end up getting some mineral oil since it's not electrically conductive

Just now, BIOS-iEngineer said:

you just need to wash off the corrosion and it will no longer be. IPA is good for removing fluxes, corrosion should not be removed with IPA or oil.

figured the oil would help prevent future corrosion, i mean i can go back and clean the MB with a cup of soap water and soft toothbrush,

Depending on the corrision you have, water and soap, IPA, white vinegar or even raw (Straight, unsweetened) lemon juice works, depending on what you are trying to clean of course, be it the board or case.

For the case, white vinegar or lemon juice can be used if the corrosion is actual rust, both of those will deal with it but white vinegar can be harmful to some things like your board for example so don't use it on the board, lemon juice itself I'm not aware of hurting anything except for making it smell lemony but I'd still only use it on the case itself.

well i used sand paper on the case MB tray, i was going to take it out since some older cases its a tray, this case looks like a tray but its riveted, and covered the inside of the case with Petroleum Jelly wiped the excess off to help prevent future rust
