Liquid coolers do not limit your case choice

Dwnld

I was looking another thread where someone needed suggestions for a case for AIO cooler and it reminded me about my older build I had a few years back. I got no idea what the case is as someone brought it to be recycled (I work at a PC repair shop). It's old enough to not have USB3 ports and from the time when FireWire tried to be a thing.

"Näin päin" on the tape was a reminder for me how to hold the side panel while carving it later. It roughly translates to "Position/side like this". Finnish is a complicated language. Note the innovative GPU support to avoid sagging! It's screwed into one of the hard drive bays.

So get a case that can hold your GPU and that's it!

As linus has demonstrated more than once, a Dremel or Hole Saw can fix a *lot* of problems.

However most people aren't looking to carve huge chunks out of their case to pass an AIO through it.  So, while technically correct, you're still kinda wrong.

It's beautiful, I'm touched to see these magnificent sleeper PC

Is that an actual custom water block and loop?

That is super cool

Could you also share about the joy and sorrow of using custom liquid cooling and more about the cooling setup?

I'm not really 100% serious, it wouldn't be my first choice either to buy a new case and then mutilate it to death just because my rad didn't fit. I could see Linus and friends doing it 24/7 but it's not for the rest of us.

It's fully custom loop. Nothing fancy there, just EK CPU block and EK fittings with EK bay pump res combo. Liquid is car battery water with biocide. I can't remember what radiator that is but it's thick and got two 120mm fans under it. I 3D printed a holder frame/bracket for the radiator tubes so it looks cleaner, they stay in place and also don't get damaged by metal edges.
