Is the i9 9900K still good for 1440p gaming in 2023?

Should I stick with the 9900K a little longer or is it time to for an upgrade? I mostly play single player AAA games.

For your system its adequate.  However, I upgraded to a RTX 4080 and the 9900k was holding me back quite a bit even at 5.1ghz all core overclock.. I had massive stutters in Hell Let Loose and Tiny Tina's Wonderland and below average FPS in most games, it just couldnt keep up with the 4080 and the experience was quite terrible ( was ok with my weaker 2080 Super )  After upgrading to a 7700x I saw a massive bump in 1% lows and a decent increase in average framerate, smooth as butter.
The 9900k is soon a 5 year old CPU on basically a node from skylake released in 2015, just reworked slightly to get some performance out of that poor 14nm die.

Just had to write this as well, I had a lot of fun with the 9900k! It was a great gaming CPU with decent 8 cores. Did great until I introduced a faster GPU.   But its 2023 and going into 2024 soon ( goddamit ), I'd say its time to upgrade if you have the money and want a smoother experience.

Playing 2042, all cores are pegged at 100%. Plays perfect though.  Would overclock more but only yields better render times when making videos.
Frames are on the low end on mw2 as well. But not worth an upgrade for me only playing one game a year.
