CPU won’t fall in the socket

Go to solution Solved by Pablofreshcobar,

SOLUTION: after looking at the socket and cpu for hours, and with the help of this forum/discords, I noticed that the bottom rows of the sockets are fully open, just place the cpu in the socket and lower the latch a little bit, after that make sure the cpu is in all the way and give it a little wiggle if needed. It should be in place now, and you can lower the latch.

Yeah I'd try lifting the edge that HAS gone in slightly and gently wiggle the CPU to make sure all pins have gone into the holes.  As long as you aren't pushing hard to try to get it in, it should go eventually.  If a pin is ever so slightly bent, it can just need slight encouragement, just making sure not to force anything.

May also be worth slightly adjusting the release lever while you do this in case its slightly offset from the factory so full open might be TOO open.

I'd try that CPU in a different motherboard and a different CPU in that board. Has to go in easily.

Maybe take a few CPU photos from multiple directions, maybe use the phone macro mode?

I think im just going to buy a new motherboard and see if it works. Any recommendations for a rx 6800 xt and ryzen 5 5600 with ddr4 ram?

Any B550 ATX board should do. I'm not a fan of Gigabyte but their B550 boards are considered the best. I'd go with Asus or MSI.

no, it needs to be fully in where u dont see the pins and the cpu itself is at the same level

What about this, you can only see the pins through the 2 small holes that are on the backside. Everywhere else i cant see the pinsIMG_5886.thumb.jpeg.ce03a8ff8802c961f5f532ca2c878547.jpeg

Its definitely in, just closed the latch with no problem.

I noticed on the cpu, there's 4 tiny empty spaces next to the center, the one on the left's 2 spaces is slightly closer together. Did you try turning your CPU 180' maybe it will slip in then? Or did you already try it?
