CPU won’t fall in the socket

Go to solution Solved by Pablofreshcobar,

SOLUTION: after looking at the socket and cpu for hours, and with the help of this forum/discords, I noticed that the bottom rows of the sockets are fully open, just place the cpu in the socket and lower the latch a little bit, after that make sure the cpu is in all the way and give it a little wiggle if needed. It should be in place now, and you can lower the latch.

So for the past hour or so I’ve been trying everything solution there is to install my CPU, but it just won’t fully go in the socket and i need some help. Ive tried opening and closing the socket multiple times (without cpu), ive tried installing the cpu while holding the latch a little bit and some many other things. But it just will not go in fully. Anyone knows a solution

The pins are not bend btw.

odd, very odd, arrow is in the right place, id say just to be sure try rotating the cpu corner by corner and see if it kinda just falls in, maybe its a motherboard defect where they but the socket cover in a rotated position?

Dont forget to mark as solution if your question is answered

Note: My advice is amateur help/beginner troubleshooting, someone else can probably troubleshoot way better than me.

I thought of that, but don’t want to risk it, im afraid ill bend one of the pins that way.

no dont try to change it once its in socket, just gentry place it like you would in the arro, but have the aroow pointing differrent corners

Arrow corner on the CPU should align to the mobo corner missing a pin, lower left

we know, its both correct but not going in, wich led me to believe maybe the socket cover was put on wrong, please read above conversation.

Ryzen 5000 series doesnt have a pin in that location, so that checks out. Probably a slighly bent pin somewhere on the CPU. Can't really get a good few from the picture of the bottom of the CPU tho.

It’s definitely not a bent pin, I’ve been starring at it for hours now and its all straight.

Do you mean push it in a little on the back site? Its so weird since the front falls in like it should be.

The small triangle lower right should go to the lower left corner of your board (on your pic)

i mean its ur safest option, nothing seems to bend the pins as it should go in normaly, noting is in the pin slots so nothing could break it

Just look where the pattern on the cpu matches on the socket and gently place it down. That's what I did.

Think I’m going to wait a little bit and hope someone has a solution and give it another go. If it still doesnt work ill bring it to a pc shop. The only problem is I live in the Netherlands so the pc shops are pretty bad.

id say just do it, most people here agree, theres actually no error here, only thing i can think of is you placing it in sideways instead of top, place it like you would with a container in real life, flat, not front first and then rear, do it all at same time

Yeah, this might be the problem. I could be placing it in with the front site first and back site later instead of letting it “fall” in

yea, might be why the pins are resting a tiny bit on the plastic, making it unable to go in, try it
