2x 32 gig or 4x 16gig DDR 5 Ram AMD 5 ?

Hello, fellow builders! I'm currently in the process of adding parts to my cart for my new AMD5 Build and I would love some advice. Should I go for a 2X 32GB stick of Corsair Vengeance 6200MHz CL32 or Corsair Vengeance (4x16GB) 6200MHz CL32 DDR5 memory? Unfortunately, I cannot find the Corsair Dominator 6000MHz CL30 in Australia, but I'm open to any other suggestions or advice on lower RAM speeds. Ultimately, I want the best bang for my buck. As for the motherboard, I was thinking of going with the ASUS ROG Strix X670E-F Gaming WiFi paired with the 7800X3D. I am aware of the news about Asus and the new X3D CPUs, but I assume the problem has been sorted out/fixed by now. The other motherboard I was considering was the B650E Aorus Master, but I have heard that Gigabyte is discontinuing it for some reason and they have not updated the BIOS for it since March 22, which has me wondering. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

go for 2 sticks. u can upgrade later if u want and im not sure but i think 2 sticks can result in a lower latency

Nope, 4 sticks is going to be a handful of work on Zen 4. Its not even stable on Raptor lake.

Then try to find 5600C28-30, preferably with AMD EXPO profile that runs at below 1.3 Volts. Thats the sweet spot of stability and performance on 7800X3D.

I assume

Yeah, you assume. Sadly its not the case and so far Asus fix is the worst among all vendors. Gigabyte and MSI is the better one out of the bunches of board vendors that actually obey the 1.3V VSOC cap that AMD imposes.

Do you really need PCIE 5.0? B650-A Pro from MSI is still a solid pick for me alongside Gigabyte B650 Aorus Elite/Gaming X.

There's a bug with it where the board will just randomly shut off the VRM under AVX workloads. No idea why that would be a problem that can't just be solved with a BIOS update, but apparently it can't, it affects a large amount of them, so they're more or less being pulled from the market.

I still wouldn't touch an X670E-F Strix, not because of the CPU blowing up that, supposedly that's been fixed, but because the B650E-E Strix is a more feature rich board that's also cheaper.

Anyway, as for the memory, both should in theory work, but the 2x32GB config is easier to work with in general. If 4x16GB doesn't save you a lot of money, go for the 2x32GB config instead.

Also, while most Ryzen 7000 series chips can do 6200, not all do and you will probably need to do a little bit of tuning to get it to work. If it's cheaper than a similarly spec'd 6000 rated kit and you're willing to put in some effort, then sure, but you might want to get a 6000 CL32 EXPO rated kit from someone and save yourself the hassle.

I am using 4 x 8 as it was proven with the 5900x series to be faster than 2 x 16.

I am not sure if the same applies to this latest generation of AMD CPUs but previously using all dimm slots was best.

I think right now on the latest gen I would grab a 4 x 16 kit and suffer the consequence of having to run 2 x 16 until everything has settled down and have the extra 2 x 16 on hand for when it is usable without any issues.

I am old school and prefer matched kits as they are pre selected to offer the best compatibilty even though in principle 2 x 16 and months later another 2 x 16 of same type and speed should not be an issue.

Its a tricky one as 32GB sticks are harder to come by in some places and they seem to be CL32+ vs the 16GB CL30, although I haven't seen anyone test if the 3D V-CACHE mitigates the difference.  All the testing for timings I've seen was on none 3D parts.

Fortunately I decided to just hold off on upgrading until all this SoC voltage stuff is confirmed to be completely solved.

Last I heard the Gigabyte BIOS still had odd quirks where it would run SoC randomly at 1.4v, particularly during POST, so it can only be detected by probing the VRM output.  Even for a few seconds every boot, going over the max voltage is going to do bad things long term to the CPU.

The best I could find In Australia was the Corsair Vengeance RGB 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MHz CL30 DDR5 EXPO with a Latency of 30-36-36-76, is 1.1volts

and the G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo 32GB (2x16GB) 5600MHz CL30 DDR5 EXPO with a Latency of 30-36-36-89, 1.25V the only difference is it would be 32 gigs instead of 64 gigs of ram but Im sure 32gigs would do me just fine for gaming.

Yeah id go for the Corsair here then. 32GB is more than enough for games.

thanks, everyone for the great advice I really appreciate it does clear up are few things that I have been wrapping my head around I may stay clear of Asus for now and look into either MSI or Gigabyte or even Asrock motherboards

Thoughts on the MSI MPG X670E Carbon Wi-Fi DDR5 Motherboard and MSI MPG B650 Carbon Wi-Fi DDR5 Motherboard When it comes to selecting a motherboard, reliability is my top priority. Appearance is a consideration, but not nearly as important. Finding the perfect motherboard can be quite a challenge since each brand has its own set of obstacles. Since I only use M.2 SSDs as my storage having at least 4x M.2 slots is a must for me, I only upgrade every 5-6 years, and I may only upgrade my GPU in between that time frame my current GPU is 6800 XT Aorus Master.

That makes no sense to buy and shelve half your ram.

Get 2x16 and let AM5 age a bit.  Can always buy more later, cheaper.

to me it makes perfect sense as I like to buy my memory as a matched and QC controlled kit. always done so and will continue to do so.

everyone has their own preference....mine is simply that I want the security that the modules have been tested and fall into the same tested parameters. nothing more nothing less.
