Honestly, even at 720p, it's not going to be a pleasant experience.

Something like a GTX 970 can be had at a similar price point used and provide a better experience.

Target 8gb of RAM minimum. 4gb is barely enough to run windows.

Is there a reason you are targeting the Q8200 specifically? That's a very old CPU.  Take a look at a i5 6600 for not that much more money and on a newer platform with an upgrade path.

ask me about my homelab

on a personal quest convincing the general public to return to the glory that is 12" laptops.

cheap and easy cable management is my fetish.

Man, don't expect cs or val to get more than 100 fps on a core 2 quad. Not even with a better gpu.

I will say, though, higher end Core 2 Quads can still run games decently. Especially with CS:Go being a bit old

If you're okay with 60fps lowest settings in those games, you should be alright.

Funnily enough, I'd be more worried about the GT 730 than the Q8200. That card has dozens of variations, some of which are absolutely terrible - worse than some GT 710 models - so it really matters which GT 730 you've got.

that gt 730 has really poor reputation. Can't say whether it will suffice though. No possibility for a stronger used gpu?

mITX is awesome! I regret nothing (apart from when picking parts or have to do maintainance *cough*cough*)

it was a very decent card back in the days. used one up to 2015. Its not supported anymore though.

I agree with Tomberry that you should try to get a 750ti if possible.

Otherwise, are the 900 series too expensive?

Be aware that this one cannot hold a full size gpu. Unless I've misunderstood something, it does look like half height pcie slots.

Can still take something like a rx 6400

Yes not a full height gpu, length won't be too much of a concern tho, it seems to be alr. Maybe something like a cheap low profile gtx 1050 ti since those have some half height variants

Just so you know, CS:GO will not run on that build. Hell, CS:GO doesn't run well on most good computers for some reason. CS:S on the other hand, runs fine on crappy hardware.

I used to use a laptop that didn't even have a built-in graphics card, and it handled CS:S relatively well, Minecraft it grudgingly handled, although it would lag for a few minutes when a world is first started (pretty sure that was more a CPU issue though). TF2 ran depressingly horribly, and... well... Black Mesa's performance... Have a look at this screenshot:

Me trying to run Black Mesa on my shitty laptop. If the issue with the flashlight isn't immediately obvious, let me explain it. It's only illuminating objects, not level geometry itself. See the top two images for an example.

I don't think it needs specification that this was running at minimum graphics too.

But it wasn't all bad. I could pretty highly recommend the early Half-Life titles, those will run on anything. Half-Life 2: Episode 2 ran okay on that laptop, although not as well as one would hope. Thankfully, you should be fine on account of actually having a GPU. HALO 1, although I haven't played it so I'm not speaking from experience, should run well enough as long as you use the original assets (or at least really low-quality ones). Minecraft, as I said, runs okay, although you will undoubtedly have lag spikes for a few minutes when it's loading new chunks. Actually, TBH, I'm not sure what it would do in Bedrock, I only have experience with Java.

There is hope for your computer yet, as long as you have an external storage drive.
