check your startup apps via task manager.

Does it have a hard drive currently?

For day to day tasks, HDD vs SSD as boot drive is a huge difference.

“Remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Try to make sense of what you see and wonder about what makes the universe exist. Be curious. And however difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at.
It matters that you don't just give up.”

An SSD would be a worthy upgrade but I would check your startup apps first and disable anything that you don't want starting when you boot your PC.

How much storage do you need? Does it currently have a 1TB HDD or do you need more.

I've been running a Samsung drive and have had no issues but really its whatever fits in your budget and meets your requirements.

you can get a WD blue 500gb drive for under 50$ (SATA) but I don't believe it has a dram cache.

What are you trying to do on the system?

If it's just office tasks, browsing,... then yes getting a ssd and putting windows and programs on that will be  huge boost in snappiness.
