Im probably going to get the ASRock Taichi RX 7900-XT for 3440x1440p UltraWide. Seems like the perfect card for high refresh rate at Ultra Settings or very high refresh rate at High Settings. My Goal is a card that will last at least a few years at 100-120 FPS High Settings and it looks to be the perfect solution.

I was just talking about this over on my thread about why used GPU prices are stupid right now and you should just buy new:

If you are planning on playing games at standard non-ultrawide 1440p then the RX 7900-XT will be an absolute MONSTER. You will be able to push almost every game ever made at Ultra Settings with a framerate over 120 FPS. I personally don't really consider Ultra Settings to be necessary but it would be rather nice to have.

I just picked up the 7900 XT.  I absolutely LOVE it.

Also:  AMD has FSR as direct competition to DLSS.  So it's not as one sided as that would seem.

Actual decisions to base on:

1) Do you plan to have Ray Tracing running while playing normally?  If yes?  Buy NVidia.

2) Are you doing any ML or Rendering tasks that benefit from Cuda?  if yes?  Buy NVidia.

(Those are two things that AMD flat-out cannot compete in currently.)

3) If this is just for gaming?  Get AMD.  More VRAM, and overall faster in general 3D acceleration will give the card a longer useful lifespan.

ye i agree, FSR 2.2 has gotten really good recently, the performance has caught up and it looks much better than fsr 1 in terms of ghosting (but that can be said for both)

So did you get a factory stock 7900-XT or a nice AIB card? Which one did you get and how are temps and stuff? I want the ASRock Taichi 7900-XT for $849.99 because I do like tinkering and overclocking and the Taichi matches the Red Devil in terms of AIB design for $50 less. Plus there's the whole thing about AMD Factory Stock Coolers not doing their jobs properly and getting recalled so now it makes even more sense to just get an AIB card.

The 7900XT is a no-brainer. Cheaper, faster and with more VRAM.

I actually got the Taichi.  Most of my games are CPU limited, so I never really max the GPU for usage?  But it doesn't run all that hot.

(Also:  It was the XTX with the stock cooler issue, not the XT.)

Ya I know the XT never got any real reports of cooler issues but still... do you really wanna trust that reference stock design that is basically the same as the XTX...? Well not me lol

I might actually step up to the XTX because right now the AsRock Phantom Gaming XTX is on sale for $960 which is a pretty damn good deal so Im kinda torn between waiting for a good AIB 7900-XT to go on sale or just jumping on this XTX sale even though the Phantom Gaming AIB design is nowhere near as good as the Taichi.

Ye but for 100 bucks more you can get a 7900 xt. According to the vid the 7900 xt is at least about 10% better on average

Wait like new? Are brand new cards selling for LESS than cards on the used market? I just checked 6900-XT and 6950-XT today and the lowest priced was like $700, I even made a thread topic about how stupid it is to try and buy older cards right now:

So ya, agree with @filpoon that one:

So I just scored a great deal. This dude bought a Power Color Red Devil RX 7900-XTX and then decided he wanted an RTX 4080 instead and I just bought the Red Devil off him with a Micro Center Receipt in hand for $900! Ha, I told everyone that their $900 asking prices for their used RTX 3090's was dumb as hell, and I just proved it.

Sweet, I love the Red Devil AIB cards, I have enjoyed my Red Devil 5700-XT for over 3 years now.
