SSD Upgrade - Lenovo 15ADA7

cmpcll

Hi all,

I have a Lenovo Ideapad 1 15ADA7 I bought on Amazon with 256gb of storage. I read it’s possible to upgrade the storage, so I got a 1TB Crucial P3 2280 M.2.

I used an external adaptor and cloned the OS using an online guide which recommended the free version of Macrium Reflect. I cloned everything and opened the laptop to replace the M.2 drive.

When I try to switch the machine on, screen turns on but stays black - can’t even enter BIOS. If I switch back to the original storage drive, everything works fine and I’m able to enter the BIOS.

Does this have something to do with the ‘Secure boot’ option in the bios? Do I have to turn this off before switching the drives?

do you recommend alternative ways to do this upgrade?

thanks!

edit: both old and new drive are formatted as GPT.
